Like most single college students, Tristan and I used silly dating apps to meet new people. Thank goodness for those apps though, because that is how we first met in the fall of 2017. We ended up matching on Bumble, and I was very eager to get to know him - so I asked him out for a coffee! We had a great time, but since we were both pretty shy and reserved, we kinda lost touch. I didn't think he was into me, and he didn't think I was into him. After a few months, in January of 2018, Tristan was getting ready for his senior recital that would complete his bachelor's degree in piano performance at KU. He was thinking of all the things he would do once he was free of the unimaginable stress, and he decided he wanted to ask me out to dinner. At the same time, I had just run into one of our mutual friends, Alex (Tristan's roommate and my friend from freshman year), who told me Tristan's recital was coming up and I should DEFINITELY text him and try to link up. That night, I texted him and we set up a date for after his recital! I showed up to his recital by myself. He still talks about seeing me in the audience and being blown away that I actually came. A couple days later, we had our dinner date, and had a ridiculously amazing time eating Thai food and sneaking on a frat house's balcony (typical shenanigans for me). Every single day that we were both in Lawrence, we spent together. We pretty quickly figured out that we were pretty perfect for each other, and the rest is history. We couldn't imagine life without each other, and to this day we still argue about who the "lucky one" is.
