Pirin Golf Club is 2 hours away from Sofia. The road to the hotel is pretty good, it takes you on a long highway and later on through some picturesque little villages. You have two options - you can rent a car from the airport. We recommend using Sixt, but any other company is good as well. Or we can provide rides based on when your plane arrives. Once you have booked your ticket, email Monika and Andy with the arrival and departure dates of your flight if you are going to need transportation to the wedding. Pirin Golf Club is a large resort and spa in the skirts of Pirin Mountain. It offers a wide variety of rooms and apartments. Monika toured the hotel and recommends booking a room in the hotel - as it comes with free breakfast and access to the large indoor and outdoor pools. The hotel also offers affordable spa treatments like facials, body scrubs and massages. There is also a large gym that surprisingly costs 6 bucks a day, if you wish to workout. Right next to the hotel is a small area with shops and stores, so you can also buy as many snacks and drinks you might need. NOTE: To book a room and get the wedding discount you need to email: reservation@piringolf.bg with the dates you wish to stay and the number of people. Please, also cc us on the reservation: andymonikajune19@gmail.com. Kids are more than welcome at our wedding - depending on the age, you can book 2 rooms next to each other, or a double room. The price for a night for a room is around 106 dollars a night. Here is the site: https://piringolf.bg/?lang=en
If you are traveling from the US, we highly recommend you fly Thursday to arrive in Europe on Friday. The wedding will be Saturday and this will give you an opportunity to arrive safely, check-in and rest before the wedding. In the "Things To Do" section we will also include a whole list of other interesting places in Bulgaria to visit if you choose to arrive earlier or stay in Bulgaria after the wedding. Our favorite flight to Sofia is a United/Lufthansa flight from Dulles to Munich and then to Sofia. There are no direct flights to Sofia from the States. But there are many options.
Absolutely, let us know about any food restrictions/allergies you have. At the wedding we would offer three main options for entrees - chicken, fish and vegetarian. Once you RSVP you will have the option to select your meal of choice.
Kids are more than welcome. Just please let us know in advance. During the wedding, there would be a special room designated for the kids, in immediate proximity to the restaurant. Their meal will be served there and it will be served first. They will also have an entertainer who will look over them, play games with them and make sure they have a great time. The kids will have non stop access to the wedding party, but they will also have the privacy of a play room. If you have any questions/concerns, please let us know. We consider kids - those under the age of 15.
In Bulgaria we use the lev. 1 Euro equals 2 lev. So approximately 1.80 USD. Almost everywhere you can pay with a credit card. Visa and MasterCard are accepted everywhere, Monika has also paid with American Express at some locations. You can withdraw money from an ATM with a fee of course. We recommend you have some Bulgarian lev on hand just in case, especially if you are planning to staying for a little.
Bulgaria is famous for its water. You can definitely drink from the tap both in Sofia and at the resort. Monika's favorite water brand is called Devin. But almost any Bulgarian water bottle brand tastes very good.
Your presence is a gift enough for us. We appreciate you so much for traveling to Bulgaria and sharing this special moment with us.
We are not sticklers for this occasion - we would suggest cocktail dress code.
