A traditional Khmer wedding is one of the most joyous occasions for a Khmer family and we're so excited to celebrate with you. Khmer weddings typically last from 3 days to an entire week -- it is a grand affair full of colors and festivity, and steeped in tradition. Family, friends, and other members of the community come together to share in the celebration. Musicians play throughout the days with traditional instruments and the couple is dressed like royalty. Unlike most Western weddings, guests are usually highly animated and integrated into the ceremonies, with the elders typically explaining the significance of the various customs to the younger generation. For this abbreviated wedding, each ceremony session is about 30-50 minutes. We'll have a detailed printed programming sheet to help you follow along. Feel free to turn to a neighbor should you have any questions or comments. Guests may freely move in and out of ceremonies and may stand and leave the room to stretch your legs.
