We met in Austin, TX during college back in 2009. We met outside after a party through our mutual friend Jazmine. I hated him! He was extremely cocky LOL we argued about trivial things for about 20 minutes. A few days later, we saw each other again and the conversation was better, but I still wasn't sold yet. According to Alonzo, he had told Jazmine that he was going to "get her friend". About a week later we talked through Facebook messages and eventually exchanged numbers. We would literally text and talk from sun up to sun down and became the best of friends! We decided to take our friendship to the next level in 2010. Unfortunately, it did not work out because after graduation, I moved back to Dallas and Alonzo remained in Austin. Throughout the years we remained friends and visited each other often. 2017, he finally came to his senses and moved back to Dallas and the rest is history! :-)
It was Christmas Eve 2018 and we were at my parent's house opening some of our gifts. I was putting together one of my son's gifts when he brought me a piece of paper. Thinking it was just a part of one of his toys, I opened it and began reading it. It read "Monica I have a question to ask you. Would you mind spending the rest of your life with me?" I looked up and asked "what is this?!" My parents were smiling and Alonzo came over to me and got on one knee and asked me to be his wife! Of course I said YES!!!! It was small (my parents and my son) and private and I loved every moment of it!
