How Rob & Molly Met

#bumble #swipedright #goldengirlsFTW

Picture it. Northeast Minneapolis, February 26, 2018. Rob and Molly go on their first date. Rob and Molly didn't meet in the romantic way by locking eyes from across a crowded room. Instead, they met like how all of the kids are meeting nowadays, a dating app. They awkwardly chatted for about a week and finally decided to meet. Their first date was supposed to be at Betty Dangers in Northeast Minneapolis, but it was closed. Solid start. So, as a last minute decision, they ended up meeting down the street at Psycho Suzie's. They talked about everything from their families, to their college experiences, hurling (obviously), and their mutual love for The Golden Girls. Molly told Rob that she would stay for another drink if Rob could correctly guess which Golden Girl she is. Rob guessed right (Dorothy) and Molly ordered another beer. They closed the bar down and the rest is history!

The Proposal

Right before the Great Lockdown of 2020, Molly and Rob had adopted an eight month old puppy, bought a house, and purchased an engagement ring. Fun fact, the day that the ring was purchased, Rob had misplaced his wallet, so Molly had to put the down payment on the ring. Smooth. Due to the lockdown, Rob was unable to pick up the ring since the store was closed until further notice. That derailed his plan for popping the question on their first night together in their new home. Rob then had to come up with another plan. Molly had to use half of her vacation for work before June 30th, so Rob decided that they should take a long trip up north to check out some waterfalls. Molly & Rob drove up to the North Shore for a long weekend. They started off the weekend at the cabin in Wisconsin, drove up through Duluth, and then they made their way to Grand Marais. The weather was absolutely perfect - sunny, 75 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky! On June 27th, they visited a well-known waterfall, Devil's Kettle. They hiked for about a mile and finally made it to the top of the falls. Rob had the ring in his pocket, got down on one knee, grabbed Molly's hand, and, well, they don't really remember what was said, but Molly said "yes". After putting the ring on Molly's finger and sharing a kiss and a very sweaty hug, they turned around to see a crowd applauding! It was slightly embarrassing, but definitely memorable. A sweet woman named Lisa came up to them and said that she had captured the moment on her phone and wanted to share the pictures. Molly and Lisa exchanged numbers and Molly and Rob anxiously awaited the arrival of the photos. When they had made it back to the parking lot, the pictures came in. Much to their chagrin, each one was less usable than the last. After making a few phone and video calls to friends and family, they celebrated with beer and wings at Voyager (no connection to Star Trek) Brewery.
