Our favorite date spot in Birmingham with delicious food and wines in a casual atmosphere. Located in Forest Park, a historical Birmingham neighborhood with Shoppe, Juniper and the Rougaroux.
El Barrio
Delicious Mexican food open for lunch/dinner, and brunch on Saturdays. They do not take reservations, so get there early if you can. You can put your name down and grab a drink at Avine, The House of Found Objects, or Collins Bar, all located nearby.
Paramount Bar
Casual arcade bar serving great burgers and a variety of beers on tap. A downtown Birmingham staple
Chez Fonfon
Try James Beard Award winning chef Frank Stitt's french restaurant located in Five Points South. Though Highlands Bar & Grill is still closed to the public, Chez Fonfon is taking reservations 14 days out. Another Frank Stitt option is his Italian restaurant, Bottega Cafe.
Automatic Seafood and Oysters
Upscale seafood restaurant in the Lakeview district of downtown Birmingham. Close to Mayawell Bar and Hi-Wire Brewery. Reservations are encouraged
TrimTab Brewing Company
Funky brewery known for sours and IPAs located in the Lakeview district. TT usually has a food truck on-site, but is also located near lots of restaurants.
Back Forty Beer Company Birmingham
Brewery with great outdoor & indoor space and delicious food located near Sloss Furnaces. Family-friendly atmosphere (dogs included!)
Railroad Park
A gem inside the Birmingham city-center, Railroad Park neighbors the Rotary Trail connector and is located near Good People Brewery, Monday Night, and Tasty Town.
Jemison Trail
At the corner of Cahaba Rd and Mountain Brook Parkway, this paved nature trail along Shades Creek is a relaxing way to start the day. A Louie favorite - and where we got engaged!
Red Mountain Park
Learn more about Birmingham's history as one of the nation’s leading iron and steel centers by walking the shady trails of Red Mountain Park. There are 16 miles of trails with various levels of difficulty, free parking, and an off-leash dog park.
Downtown Homewood
Walkable neighborhood just outside of downtown Birmingham with lots of places to shop and eat. Be sure to stop by Cookie Fix!
Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is a cultural and educational research center that promotes a comprehensive understanding for the significance of civil rights developments in Birmingham. You will need to purchase a ticket to visit.
Birmingham Museum of Art
