Kimberling City, MO

The Beginning

The couple ended up meeting the evening Chris Smith (Micah’s uncle) decided to play matchmaker for the two. As Chris predicted, the two really hit it off. The first official date was 2 days later, and the next day Micah helped Maggie move into her first apartment. Within the first couple of weeks, Maggie and Micah knew their relationship was the one to last. They have spent the months since laughing, loving, and learning about each other. On December 28th Micah proposed spontaneously to Maggie. Both of them in sweatpants, and neither expecting it to happen that evening. It was perfect, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. The story from both of their perspectives below:

Micah's side of the story!

We met one day when my uncle Chris had to move stuff out of his old workshop. I offered a helping hand and my truck along with it. We had been working for a good chunk of the day and all of a sudden he says "are you ok if I play matchmaker for you?" I was a little caught off guard, but I was all for it. Chis and I went to lunch, and told me about this girl named Maggie. "She's sweet. She has a great personality. She is Christian. She is great for you". Chris ended up giving me her phone number. I had absolutely no idea what to do next. Chris took my phone and sent a text as if it were me. Chris had promised me dinner, because I was helping him... Maggie was invited over for dinner and we were introduced. It was SUPER awkward at first. The night went on, and I had asked her if she would still like to go in a official date. Thankfully she said "yes please". After the days went by we had our first date. It was spectacular. We had gone to this coffee shop in Fort Collins named the Alleycat. We talked and talked just getting to know each other, laughing, sharing stories, and having fun. Later that night we were both hungry, so we had decided to go to McDonalds...shockingly we got the same thing. I took her home gave her hug and said "Thank you for going out with me; I had a blast". The next day I offered to help her move into her first apartment and help in any way I could. The days go on and we meet up every other night to get coffee or food. We slowly had started to fall in love, or at least she slowly started to fall in love. I knew from the first date that she was the one, she was going to be the woman I was going to marry. Time goes by, and we start to think about marriage. We get a plan going, and we talk to both sets of our parents to gain our consent. They were all for it and each set loved the other person. then it was time for me to find the ring. When it became time for me to get the engagement ring, my mom and older sister were helping me. Then, one day my older sister calls me to inform me they found it. I purchased the ring, and then I start to come up with a plan of how I would propose. I had been planning to invite a lot of friends and family, and propose during a big New Years Eve party. One evening I thought to myself, "we don't need anything extravagant," so I drove to her apartment. Before getting to her apartment I stopped to get her flowers and some ice cream. I arrive and message "hey can you come downstairs?" She was shocked but said "sure". She met me in the parking lot behind her apartment. I was shaking because I was nervous and freezing. I say this long schpel and finally ask her "will you marry me?" She says was so surprised and out of shock kept saying "No, stop, no." After I was done talking she said "Yes I will marry you." The proposal was perfect; it was exactly how Maggie and I live our lives... open, free, and us being ourselves. I later realized that we both were in our sweatpants and baggy shirts, which added more to it. After that night we have been living our lives getting ready and preparing for our biggest adventure yet. I can say without a doubt that Maggie Grace Kirkbride is my soulmate and I am so very glad that God has put her into my life. I have never been so blessed and happy to be with someone and near someone.

Maggie's Story.

It began on October 1st when I was on my way to work and my car read me a text from Chris Smith (Micah's uncle). The text said "Do I have your permission to play matchmaker for you? ... Just thought you two would really hit it off but wanted your permission before I said something." I was hit with a wave of excitement and anxiety. I had just gotten out of a long relationship and wondered if maybe it was too soon or I wasn't ready. I got over my fear and quickly replied "Um yes please". That is where it all began. Chris invited me to Facebook stalk Micah before setting us up, and if you know me at all, you know I was all in. I saw his profile and I immediately felt the physically attraction. I noticed his hands quickly and went into a deep dive into how that came to be. And after being on his account for a bit, excitedly learning who he was from the outside, I told Chris "matchmaker me". Micah texted me just a few minutes later (apparently also having Facebook stalked me) wondering if I'd like to meet up sometime. I was excited at this new possibility and we planned a date for the following Tuesday. Just a few short minutes later Micah messaged me again and asked if I wanted to just meet at Chris and Rachaels (Chris's wife) house and watch the Chiefs game with them. Hesitantly I agreed, knowing it would be a nice neutral environment with people I knew (and I love their baby). The evening, as expected, was a little awkward. But, Chris and Rachael found a way to make it fun. They built up conversation and provided dinner. Outside we decided we still wanted to go on that date on Tuesday, and departed with smiles. Tuesday arrives and we went to the Alleycat in Fort Collins. It was that best first date imaginable. The Alleycat was surprisingly packed for a Tuesday night. We found a table in the loudest corner right under the speaker. We yelled at each other for 20 minutes not being able to hear each other, and eventually moved downstairs outside. We watched people trickle in and out of the Hooka Bar as we talked for hours about our lives and who we were. We later went to McDonalds for dinner, and continued our endless rambling (haven't stopped since). Micah helped me move into my apartment the next day -October 4th- and helped me pick out my cat from the Humane Society. We spent the evening building my furniture and helping the cat and I get accustomed to our new home. He would drive almost every day for months from Frederick, CO. A 35 minute drive to the apartment and back just to see me. On October 8th I wrote in my journal "I think I met the man I'm going to marry." And that was it. I was set. God was calling me with every inch of my soul to follow this man and become his wife. Micah proposed behind my apartment building on December 28th while we were in our sweatpants and sweatshirts. Since late October or so we had both agreed that we were the ones for each other. Wedding planning had slowly commenced and we had planned to get engaged. I hadn't showered and had no idea it was coming that evening. The only giveaway was the flowers and ice cream. I was shocked to my core and couldn't believe it had became my reality. Wedding planning was officially in full swing. Since the moment we met we have been two peas in a pod. He was my missing piece, and I was his. He's my best friend in the whole world and I can't wait to spend my life with a gentle, loving, God fearing man.
