Back in the spring of 2016 a New England girl matched up with a Texas guy through what we can only call a magical technical error. You see we were both on a dating app, as one does in 2016, and while neither one of us had set our geographic limits to "Over 2000 miles" somehow, we matched. Realizing that Chris did indeed live in Texas pressure was off because well "I am NOT moving to Texas..." but there was no harm in having a friend, someone to ask you "how was your day?" and talk to. So that's exactly what we did. Talking and texting nearly every day for months. Talking and texting turned to Skype dates and by June Chris was moving into a new apartment and I had built up enough courage to fly to Austin and meet this guy. And that was it - Chris came to see me in July, I came to see him September, he came to see me in October and I went to see him in November right before he started at the academy. For the next 6 months Chris was going to be training and studying away and a choice had to be made. Either be ok not seeing each other as much till June or I move to Austin.. So I moved to Texas. A leap of faith but one even from the start never made me nervous. For those who don't know me, I am pretty risk adverse but somehow moving to Austin without a job (I was in the interview process but didn't get it till January), for a guy I had been long distance dating for 6 months (talking to for 8) and had only spent 4 days at a time with - did not scare me. From there we built our life together, moving in together, buying our first home together this past spring and getting engaged this fall. Through it all one thing could not be more true - things really do work out the way they're supposed to. Never in a million years would I have believed that I would fall in love and find my best friend in Texas, but that's where he was. Forever grateful to the world for bringing us together.
