How We Met

Before we dive into the “how we met” story, we think it is important to give a little back story about all the times we DIDN’T meet, but happened to be in the same vicinity. Waaaayy back in 2015-16, Nate and Missy worked for the same radio broadcast company, however, Nate was on staff as a promotions team member, while Missy was an intern on the morning show. Nate and Missy would enter the same door for work, but Missy would work in the morning and Nate would work in the evenings, so they never saw each other. From 2014-2017 Nate and Missy also lived in the same apartment complex, where Missy actually worked in the front office. Nate would go down to the front office from time to time to pick up the occasional package, but even then, their paths never crossed. Nate and Missy eventually ended up working for the same company post college but, once again, worked in different regions, different cities. It was as if their souls were chasing one another for years, restlessly waiting for the right time. Fast forward to 2020-2021. After a few brief exchanges and some bold flirting on Twitter, connections were made and numbers were exchanged! But, after a few days of conversing, things fizzled out. Months later, while Missy was having an especially rough day at work, she became fed up with her situation and started devising a plan. She remembered from prior conversations that Nate had experienced something similar and suddenly she felt an overwhelming urge to talk to him, despite them having not really spoken in some months. She decided to ask if they could Facetime later, which he agreed, and they ended talking that night for well over two hours. What started as strictly business/career conversations quickly turned into something much more sweet. Within a few weeks, Missy and Nate both received promotions at their jobs (already benefiting from each other’s good energy) and they used it as an opportunity to celebrate, which ended up being their first date. Destined to meet regardless of time, place, or circumstance, the invisible thread that kept these two connected all these years finally completed its task. The rest is history in the making.

The Proposal

If you know Nate and Missy, then you know that they are HUGE fans of brunch. They spend many of their weekends trying out new brunch spots all throughout the Sunshine State. Nate decided that October 21, 2023 was the day that he was going to pop the question. Depending on if they were headed North or South, one of them would meet at the other's house before riding to their destination together. Nate made a reservation in Naples (South), which required Missy to meet at his house that day. With the help of some great friends, Nate decorated the whole living room with pictures of them throughout their relationship hanging from the ceiling, pink (Missy’s favorite color) and white rose petals in the shape of a heart, and a bright LED sign that read “Will You Marry Me?” When Missy arrived at the house, Nate told her that he wasn’t done getting ready and asked her to come inside to wait as he finished up. She opened the door and was met with an acapella of one of their favorite songs “Can You Stand the Rain”, the beautifully decorated room, and Nate waiting at the other side with the ring in hand. He walked her into the middle of the pink and white heart, got on one knee and asked her to marry him. And of course, she said yes!
