"Our story isn't your stereotypical "Hallmark Love Story", but over the last 8 years we could never deny how much the other meant, and I think we both always knew this was it for us. When we got engaged a friend commented "it was never 'if', it was always 'when'." I think that describes our story perfectly...." Wyatt and Samantha met at the University of Wyoming in 2015, where Samantha was in the Kinesiology program and Wyatt was on the Track team studying Physiology. They first met in a Biomechanics lab where Wyatt thought Samantha was loud, and Samantha thought Wyatt was another athlete that didn't want to participate in class. Later that semester their groups of friends shared a few drinks together at their favorite spot, Mulligans. While it wasn't Wyatt buying the drinks for Samantha that night, Samantha was only interested in him. Luckily for her, he felt the same and he asked for her number at the end of the night. The next day, Samantha waited for a text from Wyatt, but patience has never been Samantha's strongest quality. Eventually, Samantha could wait no longer (it had been 12 hours since she saw Wyatt, that was more than enough time) so she decided to reach out to him and "slid into his DMs" that afternoon. They met up for drinks later that night, and they spent the rest of their senior year falling in love. The couple fell hard and fast, but it wasn't immediately their happily ever after. After separating, they spent the next two years trying to figure out who they were and what they wanted out of life. They were the "on again off again" couple, but they were always in each others lives. In 2019 they were both guests at two of their best friends' wedding (they would find out later that some of their friends were sure this would be the event the two would reconnect at). The day after the wedding, as Wyatt drove to Missoula, Montana to start his graduate program, he called Samantha. They talked for most of the 6 hour drive, and officially rekindled their romance. The next couple of years were busy for the two of them. Samantha completed a Master's in Health Administration from the University of Wyoming in 2020 and Wyatt graduated from the University of Montana with his Master's in Exercise Physiology in 2021. The two moved to Reno, NV together in 2021, then to Salt Lake City, UT in 2022. With Samantha finding a great company to grow with, and Wyatt landing a dream job as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the US Speed Skating Team, it was finally the right time to pop the question... but how? The two spend a weekend every summer at a music festival full of their favorite bands. When Samantha saw that Turnpike Troubadours would be playing a festival in Oregon, they made plans to go in July of 2023. Turnpike has been a band the two have bonded over since they met in college and had seen numerous times together. During the concert, when Wyatt started to lead Samantha out of the crowd towards the back of the venue, she was sure they were finally going to go get a corn dog. Instead, he caught Samantha completely by surprise and got down on one knee during "Diamonds and Gasoline", and she said YES!
