A PLUS ONE: Due to the constraints of the venue, we are only allowing guests that we have named in the invites. MY CHILDREN: As you know, Ming loves children enough that if it was up to her it would be a kid ONLY wedding but for some reason Nick wants his adult family to come and so as much we love kids, we are only going to have the little ones who are part of the wedding party and explicitly named on the invitations. A PET: Ming is deathly allergic to basically all animals so please do not kill the bride. Service animals are welcome but please let us know ahead of time and keep them away from the bride to avoid the afore-mentioned murder AN ALIEN OVERLORD: Alien overlords are all welcome, bleep blorp
Formal attire for the banquet and the wedding. For the banquet, I recommend wearing red or gold since those are the celebration colors for Chinese events. For the wedding: when in doubt, since our wedding theme is rainbow put on your brightest threads that make you feel the best! The bolder the better, use this as an excuse to wear your most extravagant outfit
To get to the island you can take a car, the F train (conveniently called Roosevelt Island stop), the Q102 bus (to Main St/The Octagon), the ferry (use the astoria line), or have a fun trip on the tram! The tram is accessible via 456FNQR trains (basically every single east side train) so the world is your oyster. Once you're on the island, it has it's own built in shuttle in the form of the Red Bus! It has stops at the subway, tramway, the hotel, and the venue itself. It's free, and goes all around the island all day - even until 1 am. That being said the island is TINY and you can walk from end to end in 30 min so if the weather is nice (and your shoes are comfy) just take a stroll
There is some parking at the venue, but it is limited. If it is possible for you to carpool with family or friends, we would appreciate you doing so! We encourage you to take advantage of NYC's great public transportation (see above)
We are currently in the process of reserving blocks at Hilton Graduate hotel which is a convenient 20 min walk from the venue or a free 5 minute bus ride
The wedding will be primarily indoor, because we have Weather Anxiety, but weather-permitting there will be outdoor areas people can hang out in during the reception! The outdoor area will be paved so you don't have to worry about your heels sinking into the grass
We'll be serving a variety of hors d'oeuvres and a grazing table at cocktail hour followed by a sit-down dinner with a choice of entrée and then a dessert bar with multiple options. There will also be a kids meal selection available of chicken fingers, french fries, mozzarella sticks. All of which will have options that includes vegan and GF options and all will be peanut free. For the more specific allergies (hello my fellow Lees) please note them on the RSVP and we will work to accommodate
Yes! It is fully ADA accessible
Please RSVP by Sept 15th. However for the sake of Ming's mental health (and thus Nick's) please respond as soon as you are able. We totally understand that emergencies happen and plans can change! Just keep us in the loop
Nope! It's all in one, so we will go straight from the ceremony to the cocktail hour and reception. We will have a quiet area in case anyone needs a break
We will have an open bar available. Since Nick doesn't drink, we will also be offering signature mocktails that you can opt to add alcohol to if you'd like
What is this, a soap opera??? If your dress is 75% upwards of white then I'm pretty sure we both know the answer is no. If it just has white detailing on it, go for it
