One of our favorites, Minnewaska State Park is home to majestic aspects of nature including rugged granite cliffs, pristine waterfalls, and sky lakes. It also contains some incredible hikes ranging from easy (Lake Minnewaska Loop, Awosting Falls) to rigorous (Gertrude's Nose, Verkeerderkill Falls). Great way to spend a few hours on a beautiful autumn day. Bonus if you're a Severance fan - this is the filming location for Woe's Hollow.
The hike across the Mohonk Mountain House grounds to the Labyrinth rock scramble and up through the Lemon Squeeze crevice is one of the most memorable outdoor experiences in the Hudson Valley, or anywhere else. You'll wedge yourself through rock formations and eventually pop out to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Mohonk Preserve and beyond. There is an entrance and usage fee of $35, which also grants access to other trails on the grounds.
The Kingston Point Rail Trail is a wonderful spot for a leisurely walk. As you make your way along the trail, you’ll pass through scenic wooded areas and enjoy peaceful surroundings. It’s an easy, relaxing way to connect with nature, and the trail eventually leads to stunning views of the Hudson River.
A fantastic local orchard specializing in all things apple cider, with an impressive food menu and impeccable atmosphere. Tours, a farm stand, and provisions for sale are also available onsite. Open at 12pm on Sundays for folks who can't join us for the sendoff brunch.
That's right - you get local beers and ciders, wine, coffee, baked goods, AND books - all in the same rustic, light-filled chic building. Absolutely delightful for a fun afternoon visit or a quiet morning, with many incredible local establishments nearby in Kingston.
One of our favorites in the Hudson Valley. Known for pioneering the conversion of industrial buildings for the installation of contemporary art, Dia:Beacon is a museum of contemporary art with more exhibition space than Manhattan's Guggenheim, Whitney Museum, and MoMA combined.
