For history buffs and/or lovers of trains, the North Carolina Transportation Museum is located in the town of Spencer, right next to Salisbury. It is a historic site that was once home to Southern Railway’s largest steam locomotive repair facility in the southeast and is a museum featuring all types of transportation history. Fun Fact: its Bob Julian Roundhouse is the largest remaining roundhouse in North America!
