In 2015, our friend Jenna first tried setting us up to no avail. She continued her efforts over the years and never gave up! (A million thank you's for not giving up!) Timing is everything and we both agree we wouldn't have been in the right time of our lives had we met earlier. In July 2022, Alyssa FINALLY agreed to giving Kyle her number. He didn't hesitate and reached out the next day.
Our first date was initiated by Kyle after a week of sending LONG texts back and forth. We've been teased about the length of our texts, but we both agree how at ease they made us feel! We met for dinner at Rock Elm in Plymouth and nearly shut the place down. The drinks helped ease any initial nerves, the food was honestly not that great, but the conversation flowed naturally. It was easy. So easy, we went on four dates that first week and have been inseparable ever since.
For Alyssa's birthday, we went to Duluth, planning to spend the day along the North Shore. While Alyssa had planned a cute outfit in case celebratory pictures were taken, the closer her birthday got, the more certain she was that Kyle wouldn't be proposing on the trip. Any lingering hopes were squashed when he changed clothes at the first stop. Little did she know, it was all part of his plan. An hour later, we arrived at Palisade Head where we walked out onto the cliff rocks. There, overlooking Lake Superior, Kyle proposed and Alyssa said "yes". (Any fretting over outfits proved unnecessary as the only thing you can see in our photos from the day are our joyful smiles and the raincoats we wore!)
