There is plenty to see and do right on-site at Gold Canyon Golf Resort and Spa including hiking, golf, and spa treatments. There is on-site access to two trailheads leading up to Dinosaur mountain with views of the entire valley. We would love for you to join in for Golf with the Groom on Friday morning, playing the Sidewinder Mountain Golf Course. Be sure to check out that event in the schedule to reserve your spot. If you are looking to book an additional tee time, please reach out to the Pro Shop at 480-982-9499. The Dinosaur Mountain Golf Course is the Groom's favorite course on-site! If you're wanting a more relaxing vacation, spend an afternoon by the pool or visit the Salon and Spa. The spa offers an array of services including hair cuts and styles, massage, facials, pedicures, etc. Call the spa at 480-982-6855 to book ahead as day of appointments may not be available.
Goldfield is about a 20 minute drive from the venue. Walk down Main Street, explore the many shops and historic buildings. Tour the historic Mammoth Gold Mine and visit the Goldfield Museum. Pan for gold then take a ride on Arizona’s only narrow gauge train. You’ll also get to witness an old west gun fight performed by the famous Goldfield Gunfighters! Spend a fun filled day, rich in wild west history!
Tortilla Flat is the oldest operating stagecoach town in Arizona and offers a unique small town experience. The town is about a 45 minute drive from the venue as you will be traveling winding mountain roads. Throughout the drive you will have beautiful views of the desert as well as an overlook of Canyon Lake. If you make the trip, be sure to stop in the Country Store to get an ice cream cone!
The Olive Mill, a 35 minute drive from the venue, is one of our favorite spots in the area! It is a great spot for brunch as they have an in-house roastery and an Italian-inspired eatery. They also have a full marketplace with various extra virgin olive oils, Balsamic vinegars, olives, and much more. There is a great outdoor space with fireplaces and, often, live music. Be sure to try the cannoli and gelato!
The Hieroglyphic Trail, a 10 minute drive from the venue, is a great family-friendly hike through Hieroglyphic Canyon in the Superstition Wilderness. This route is a gentle uphill grade lined with wildflowers during the spring and leads you into a boulder-filled canyon with year-round pools of water. Eventually, you will arrive at the petroglyphs believed to be created by the Hohokam, who lived in the area roughly 1,500 years ago.
The Wave Cave is one of the bride's favorite trails! The trailhead is a 30 minute drive from the venue. This is not a trail for beginners as it is fairly challenging. Starting from Carney Springs trailhead off Peralta road, the Wave Cave Trail features a lost goldmine, many photo opportunities, and views of the Superstition mountains. Be sure to bring plenty of water, as it gets hot on this trail. The spectacular views at the top and the shaded cave make this one of the best hikes near Gold Canyon. The trail has a steep climb with decent elevation gain at the end and a rocky descent.
The Peralta trailhead is about a 25 minute drive from the venue. This route features a variety of natural wonders, including towering rock formations and stunning views of the surrounding desert landscape. The trail is generally well-maintained and easy to follow, with clear signage along the way, until you reach the off-trail portion after the Fremont Saddle. There are steep and rocky sections, so hikers should be prepared for a bit of a workout.
The Arboretum, a 25 minute drive from the venue, is a great place to visit as the different cacti and flowers bloom throughout the year. Enjoy 4.7 miles of trails throughout the Arboretum, in gardens representing 11 different regions of the world. BTA’s trails provide many opportunities to stop and take beautiful landscape, fauna and flora photos.
The Windmill Winery, a 35 minute drive from the venue, is an Arizona winery with signature wines that are locally produced featuring grapes that thrive in our Arizona desert terrain. Sample wines, eat at food trucks, and enjoy live music and entertainment. Enjoy classic varietals likes Zinfandel, Cabernet and Pinot Grigio and discover new favorites like Pinotage, Alicante Bouschet and Barbera.
