Best Man
God blessed me with Alex as my only sibling. We used to go to Chinese restaurants and look at the zodiac calendars on the place mats. Alex was born in the year of the Dog. I don't believe in those, but it did happen to get one thing correct: Alex is the most loyal friend I have in my life. Even though he is younger, I learned humor from him. Some of my first laugh-so-hard-I-started-to-cry moments were because of Alex cracking jokes. Thanks for teaching me joy.

Ping and I first became friends as undergraduate students pulling all-nighters doing homework in the Dude - which is the engineering & arts library at University of Michigan. We bonded learning about each other’s cultures through story & food. A highlight was when Ping invited me to star as the only caucasian in U of M's Malaysian Culture Night - where I proudly acted in one very brief one scene. After graduating, Ping and I have been able to encourage one another as we served in college ministries on separate campuses. Ping, I cannot thank you enough for the many prayers you have sown for me and my family. You have been a great friend to me!

Life would have crushed me these past 9 years if it weren't for your steady friendship and brotherhood in my life. I remember meeting you for the first time: You beat me playing pool and I taught you to play Monopoly Deal. From late night card games with tons of laughs to hours of free pastoral counseling I received as your roommate, your friendship has meant the world to me. So grateful for you!

Everything I know about makeup and fashion, I attribute to my sister Sarah. Sarah, you're my socially better half; my nearly twin; my favorite seester. I treasure all the late night conversations, and all the memories of spying on Nick and playing with dolls and playing with our many pets. Wouldn't trade our childhood for anything. You’ve hit some of the ‘adult’ landmarks first & given me loads of advice and encouragement as I catch up. I love you!

The first time I heard Pastor Dave preached, within a 30 minute time period, I was cracking up so hard my stomach hurt and the next moment tears were flowing from my eyes as he described the beauty of the gospel. I didn't know at that time how much that message would desperately be needed, as my life went on a roller coaster ride the next 10+ years. Through most of it, Dave was my pastor. He was not only my pastor; he was also my brother and dear friend. Would not have made it to this day without him. Thank you bro!

In the past 5 years of living in Chicago, my cousin Melanie has successfully turned me into a climber, and I have turned her into a cyclist. While she remains the best female climber in Chicago; I am proud of my position as a mediocre yet enthusiastic cyclist. Together, we mostly enjoy being athletic and eating Jeni's ice cream. And we will soon begin training for the Chicago Triathlon 2020.

I've never had a roommate for as long as I've been roommates with Chris. Even before we became roommates we were in small groups together. I was always blessed by your honesty and frankness. As roommates, you have always been there for me - whether it was helping shovel me out of the snow when my car was stuck in the back alley or opening the door when I locked myself out... for the 12th time. Thank you for your friendship!

Kate, I wouldn't be getting married if it weren't for you. Thanks for your patience & advice over the last several years. I've been deeply blessed by your hospitality, your openness, and your wisdom. I have always felt welcomed into the Chung house as though I were a member of your family.

I met Rich in Columbus, Ohio where we were both involved in a graduate/professional student men's group at church. God taught me true brotherhood and hospitality through your love for me in those years. Even after you moved out to Arizona, I still felt that you were so near to me. Thank you for always being there bro. "Time and change will surely show, how firm thy friendship O-HI-O!"

Mag-ster, we have biked, walked, and drove many, many miles together in both snow & sun. Thanks for always giving your sandwich the ends of the bread so I could have the inside pieces. When we were roommates, I enjoyed hearing you spontaneously create amazing music. Our two years as roommates were your third & fourth year in Med school, and you broke my understanding of what it means to be busy. Your humble dedication and committment to excellence in medical school will save many lives.

During one of the darkest hours of my life, the Lord used you to shine a light that I didn't believe existed and one that I certainly believed I didn't deserve. Had it not been for your brotherhood to me in that season, I might have been lost for much, much longer. Thank you for introducing me to The Walking Dead, Pretzel M & M's, and St. Louis barbecue. I'll always treasure our friendship.

Sydney, back in English 101, I was inspired by how openly you talked about your faith. You were wholeheartedly proud to tell the whole class how Jesus is your best friend. Thanks for being an inspiration and never holding back. I have been so encouraged by seeing you grow and blossom. Thanks for always listening, always believing in me, and always counting the blessings!
