We're getting married!!

All good love stories seem to start in a similar way. Strong boy sees a cute girl. Offers to lend a helping, caring hand. And the rest is history. And this love story seemed to start the same way. It was move-in day Maddie’s freshman year at UNC when a couple of football guys offered to help her and her parents move her stuff into her dorm room. Not only did these guys help her lift heavy boxes, they invited her to a party they were throwing at their house that weekend. She is thinking, “wow, college is off to a good start”, while Scott, Maddie’s dad, was thinking, “put everything back in the car! We’re going home!”. The thing about these thoughtful guys was…..neither of them were Mike. How classic. But, Mike did happen to live at the house where the party was being held and that’s where the good love story turns into THEIR love story. The night of the party, Mike was looking for a cornhole partner and decided to approach Maddie. They played their first game together and that could have been the end of it. But they won. And then they won again and again. Now Maddie has really caught Mike’s attention. If you know anything about Mike, it’s that he likes to win. Then, they move to beer pong. The real test. And Maddie shows up again and they run the table. Mike isn’t the only one who knows how to talk smack and be competitive. (Did he just find his partner? On and off the table ) 2 months later they started dating.

Mike was ready to take the next step and propose to Maddie. But how does he get her to a location without him, in a cute outfit with her nails done, and her not suspecting a thing? Make a fake charity event of course! Mikey and his sister Steph created a fake women’s charity event invite that Steph asked Maddie to go to with her and some other women. The plan was for Mike’s mom to pick Maddie up and drive her to the event, but they were going to stop for a quick drink at The Woods in Rino beforehand. Little did she know, Mikey had set up roses and a bucket of champagne on the rooftop patio and was waiting for her. When she arrived, she saw Steph outside and started walking towards her to sit down. Eventually, she turned around and there was Mikey holding a bouquet of roses. She was completely shocked and confused. She walked over, immediately started balling and eventually said yes! They popped champagne as their closest friends and family made their way to the patio for yet another surprise. Finally Maddie said, “Wait, are we not going to the event?” They celebrated with their closest friends and family and two days later hopped on a plane for a trip to Europe as a newly engaged couple.
