Clueless about what was to come, we met during the summer of 2019 while both working at Chevron. Mikayla an intern, Michael a full time engineer, we found ourselves on the same work team. We became friendly acquaintances for the summer, but after the internship ended, we continued on with our separate lives. Come late 2020 when Mikayla started full time at Chevron, we discovered a shared love for the board game Settlers of Catan and began to Zoom and play online together almost every night. Still a treasured date night activity, Catan will always hold a special place in our hearts (yes, we know how nerdy we are...it's one of the things we first bonded over)!

Two years of memories and adventures have brought us to where we are today. 6 countries, 9 states, and countless cities later, some of our highlights include roadtripping to and snowboarding in Utah, surfing in Maui, suntanning in Oahu, hiking and eating good food in Washington, meeting family in Canada and Boston, backpacking in Europe, and spontaneously driving two hours to Chula Vista for the best tacos ever (checkout the Things To Do tab for details!!).

After being delayed by two unusual weeks of rain, Michael took the clear skies as the perfect opportunity to pop the question. Right before heading out to a New Year's Eve dinner, Michael insisted we stop by the beach to watch the sunset. Slightly suspicious, Mikayla followed Michael to the spot where we had our first date at Sapphire Beach. New year's resolutions were exchanged, with Michael's final one being to plan a wedding. A speechless Mikayla watched him get down on one knee, and the rest is history.
