Haylee Perry
Maid of Honor
Haylee is the Maid of Honor and Mikayla's youngest sister. Although 3 years younger and complete opposites, Haylee and Mikayla are very close. They share a love of loudly performing songs from Broadway musicals and reading books by the pool. While growing up together, Haylee forced Mikayla to play school and Mikayla forced Haylee to learn her choreographed dances. You'll find Haylee on the dance floor at the wedding, but don't expect her moves to look as good as they did when she was a kid. Haylee and Marshall get a long great, probably because they are both Taruses. You can find them at family gatherings raiding the snack tables and picking on each other.
Michael Grandison
Best Man
Michael is the Best Man and Marshall's older brother of 11 months. Growing up they would do everything together and would be called "The Boys" by their family since they were rarely apart. As adults some of their interests have changed but they still enjoy the things they did as a kids, like playing Super Smash Brothers and watching the Dragon Ball franchise. Marshall and Michael never have to worry about growing apart because their love/hate with the relationship with the Philadelphia Eagles is something they will share for the rest of their lives. Michael and Mikayla are each other's self proclaimed "arch nemeses". They are known to randomly fall into long discussions about the world and are forever competing to see who can think of the worst pun. Michael has won every time.
Tia Grandison
Matron of Honor
Tia is the older sister to Marshall, although after 8 years people sometimes get confused if she's Marshall’s or Mikayla’s actual sister. Mikayla was 18 when Marshall introduced her to Tia and Tia immediately took her under her wing. Mikayla was the oldest of her siblings and appreciated Tia helping her and guiding her through the important milestones of adulthood. They thought they were Yin and Yang but over time realized they are more like Yin and Yin. Tia is the mother of the Ring Bearer Isaiah. Marshall appreciates all the times his older sister has supported him and checked in on him. He always mentions that she was the person who bought him his first pair of Jordans.
Allen (Ty) Grandison
Groomsman
Ty is Marshall’s eldest sibling, although he definitely hasn’t given up his childlike heart. Ty is constantly encouraging Marshall to work on fitness goals and is always down to discuss which characters from his favorite movie/tv show would win in a head to head battle. Ty is known for his dance moves and we can only hope he blesses us with his famous “banana split” at the wedding. Ty is always sure to make Mikayla laugh when the family plays group games and he also sometimes scares her during very intense games of “killer”
Lexie Washington
Bridesmaid
Lexie is Mikayla's "Irish Twin" but Lexie is clearly the younger of the two if you ask Mikayla. Lexie and Mikayla grew up hours away from each other but have always worked very hard to be apart of each others lives. Lexie has always been an outgoing athlete who is unafraid of a challenge and Mikayla admires that. They both love music and have shared some of their favorite artists by inviting the other to concerts. Lexie has recently moved to Columbus and they have been able to spend more time together than ever before. When Marshall and Mikayla first started dating, they bonded over both having siblings with less than a year age difference. Marshall loves to hear Lexie's funny relationship stories.
Malik Hargrow
Groomsman
Malik and Marshall met in the 7th grade at Groveport Middle School North, Mikayla was also there but was in 6th grade and therefore not cool enough to be included in this story. They both ended up transferring to Madison Christian and even after Malik left for a year, their friendship continued. Malik and Marshall have grown up together, gone to school together, and even worked together at Magic Mountain. Although, "work" may be a strong word for the things that happened that summer. You can find Malik and Marshall in one of their living rooms playing NBA 2k, mostly because they've learned they get in too much trouble when they go out together. Mikayla appreciates Malik being such a good friend to her and Marshall over the years. She especially thanks him for the time he fixed her kitchen window...and the time he mounted their tv...oh and helped them move when they lived on the 3rd floor.
Morgan McDonough
Bridesmaid
Mikayla and Morgan met sophomore year of high school in art class. Their friendship began with them laughing until they cried every day because they thought they were the funniest people alive and secretly they still believe they are. Most of their time spent together consisted of watching the Cheetah Girls on repeat, talking at Panera from open to close, dancing in public, and drinking lots of boxed wine. Morgan has been a constant in Mikayla's life and Mikayla is truly grateful to have such an loyal and down to earth best friend. Morgan remembers their senior year of high school Mikayla worked at IHOP and was always talking about this guy she met there named Marshall and is so happy to see them be married 8 years later. Marshall loves Morgan of course but he also loves that she is married to Alex and he has a friend to talk to when Morg and Mik get weird.
Isaiah Stepney
Groomsman
Isaiah and Marshall met in 5th grade and he is one of Marshalls oldest friends. Isaiah has been known to go where his heart takes him. Sometimes it takes him so far we lose him for a couple of months, but their group of friends always ends up back together like nothing has changed. Isaiah is multi talented, he can rap, sing, play guitar, and when everyone goes out he can get them in trouble in just one hour. Whether its their rec football team named [censored] or in their group chat named [censored] they always have a good time. Mikayla loves Isaiah like a member of the family and (mostly) forgives him for the night he and Marshall went to the Ugly Mug.
Leah Jones
Bridesmaid
Leah and Mikayla first started chatting when Mikayla was working her way through interpreting school as a receptionist at Columbus Colony Elderly Care. During the summer of 2018 they became bunk mates and best friends at OYO camp where they also famously helped coin the term dirt witch. They have been laughing their way through things together ever since. Mikayla considers Leah an important part of her chosen family and knows she can count on Leah through all of the hard stuff. Leah loves both Mik and Marshall and is honored to be part of the celebration 🍾 Marshall has always had a bond with Leah and loves eavesdropping on Leah and Mikayla's phone calls so he can insert his own opinions.
Devon Stepney
Groomsman
Devon and Marshall are great friends even though Devon used to just be Isaiah's little brother. Devon has always been around, but the two didn't start to get to know each other until 2014 at Friday Night Church when Devon was 17 and Marshall was 20. Devon remembers when his parents were out of town and Marshall tried to call Devon out of school. The caller ID showed Marshalls name and Devon was busted and got in trouble when his parents returned. Marshall always knows he's going to have a story to tell when he's with Devon, you just have to make sure Dev makes it home by the end of the night. Don't worry Devon, we won't talk about the alley. Mikayla and Devon were one grade apart and would often run into each other at Friday Night Church as well. Mikayla always laughs when she remembers Devon as that tiny kid. Their birthdays are only a few days apart which means they're destined to get a long great.
Charlotte Williams
Bridesmaid
Charlotte met at Columbus Colony and through their mutual love of the seniors and sign language, their friendship had a "Superbloom". Five-ish years later, they’ve gone through "Champagne Problems", and helped each other through some "Slow Burns". Charlotte can’t wait to celebrate Mik and Marshall’s love, while dancing their hearts out, hopefully with some "Witches Brew" ❤️ Mikayla loves Charlottes courageous heart and her ability to stand up for what she believes. Mikayla also appreciate Charlotte for being a wonderful mentor and showing what a fantastic interpreter looks like. Marshall thinks Charlottes great but sometimes spends more time with her pet cat Sookie. He promises to continue being Mik and Chars chauffeur when they need their own personal Lyft at 2 AM.
Nahshon Hinkle
Groomsman
Marshall has known Nahshon his entire life, mostly because he is his cousin. During the summers they would practically live at each others houses. Marshall remembers packing a bag and staying at Nahshon's house for days playing video games all night. They would fight one minute then be completely over it the next. They are still close as adults and love to catch up with each other on Sundays at Marshalls parent's house. Nahshon always know about the best restaurants and gives his recommendations to Mik and Marsh. Mikayla and Nahshon have tons of memories over the years, mostly just them laughing in a corner over some stupid joke. Mikayla is entrusting Nahshon to drink water on the wedding day, eat breakfast, AND PLEASE DONT PASS OUT.
