Puerto de Mazarrón is a small coastal town about 50 minutes away from the city of Murcia. If you arrive in Murcia, we will take care of the rest! To get to Murcia there are two options: 1) Fly to one of the nearby airports, either Alicante-Elche (ALC) or the Region of Murcia (RMU). From there you can easily get to Murcia by direct bus. 2) Fly to Madrid-Barajas (MAD) and continue to Murcia by either train (more comfortable and faster) or bus. If you want more freedom of movement and to be able to get directly to Puerto de Mazarrón, renting a car is always a good option, too.
Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández International Airport (ALC) is probably the best option if you are traveling from Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Manchester or Toulouse. Puerto de Mazarrón is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes by car from this airport. Renting a car is the most practical option, especially if you are traveling in a group. There are also buses from the airport to the city of Murcia that leave from the airport every hour, take 55 minutes and cost around €7. You can check the schedules and buy tickets here: https://www.alsa.es/
Murcia-Corvera International Airport (RMU) is only about 40 minutes by car from Puerto de Mazarrón, although it is quite small and only a few routes operate, including flights from Madrid or Barcelona. Renting a car is the most convenient option. You can also take a bus to Murcia in 30 minutes, although timetables are limited. You can check them here: https://www.interbusmurcia.es/
Madrid and Murcia are connected by train in about 3 hours. They are comfortable trains and have a variety of schedules. Prices can vary greatly from €17 to €70+, depending on the schedule, the company and, above all, how far in advance you buy your tickets. Therefore, we recommend that you buy your train tickets at the same time as you get your flights. There are two companies that cover the route: 1) Renfe with two services: AVE and AVLO (low-cost option). You can check prices and schedules at https://www.renfe.com/ 2) Ouigo. It is a low-cost company, much cheaper, but with more limited schedules. You can check prices and schedules at https://www.ouigo.com/ Note! Trains to Murcia usually leave from Madrid-Chamartín station, in the north of the city, although some may leave from Madrid-Atocha, in the south. Both stations are connected by commuter trains to the Airport. You can also travel by bus. Alsa (www.alsa.es) and Blablacar (www.blablacar.es) have direct service from Madrid-Barajas airport to Murcia in just over 5 hours.
Once in Puerto de Mazarrón, we suggest some options for where to stay. The celebration will take place at La Quinta del Arco, Miguel's beach family condo, 10 minutes away by car. Don't worry, there will be a shuttle service to the venue in case you don't have a car or prefer not to take it.
The Dos Playas hotel is a modern, four-star, holiday-type hotel. If you decide to stay here, do use the discount code ANDRESYMIGUEL when making the reservation for an additional reduction. https://30degreeshotels.com/hotel-dos-playas/
The Bahía hotel, although older, is a relic of Mazarrón, right on the beach. With three stars, it is also cheaper. If you decide to stay here, do use the discount code ANDRESYMIGUEL when making the reservation for an additional reduction. https://30degreeshotels.com/hotel-bahia/
