Our first introduction was over headset (the stage crew intercom) during “Little Shop of Horrors” at Santa Clara University while we were freshmen, but we never grew much closer. Two years after graduation, we started working together and spending time together. We became fast friends over a year of meeting for weekly trivia nights, having dinner after work, and listening to several of our friends point out the obvious before we started dating. And we’re so glad that we did.
“In every walk in nature, one receives far more than he seeks”- John Muir. This quote is etched in stone at the entrance of the John Muir Historic Site. One of our favorite dates is exploring national parks and historic sites, so the day started like any other weekend adventure. We walked through the orchards and house of the Muir family, hand in hand, talking about what it would be like to build a home. We ended the date by hiking Mount Wanda. Just before we reached the summit, the oak trees parted. We were alone. It was quiet, peaceful, and perfect. Kyle said “In every walk in nature, one receives far more than he seeks. Michileen Marie will you marry me?” and she said, “Yes!”
