While the details of our meeting differ slightly depending on who you ask. We know that our first meeting occurred in Room 13 at Kaweah Delta Emergency Room. Reuben, already a veteran Emergency Room Physician, had just returned home from his traditional World Cup Trip, only to be captivated by the new girl in town. Michelle, a newly minted Registered Nurse had a great work ethic and a quiet, but confident demeanor that quickly enamored Reuben. Reuben couldn't help but try to get to know Michelle by nervously approaching Michelle in Room 13 to ask where in the World she was from. After a few more months of Reuben clumsly trying to get Michelle's attention, it wasn't until one faithful night that Reuben stood between a combative patient's wrath that she decided to pay Reuben attention. The Rest is History.
Reuben and I had discussed making a trip to Yellowstone for awhile. Reuben decided he wanted to go the weekend of his birthday. Seeing at it was his birthday weekend, and we had differing schedules, Reuben left to Yellowstone with his friend, Jaime, a couple days before I did. Unbeknownst to me at the time, Reuben used those days to scout out locations for the perfect proposal. Being that I have the worst luck with flights, I almost did not make it to Yellowstone. Luck was on my side, and I eventually made it. The next day was filled with excitement, adventure, and wildlife. We saw the largest pack of wolves in the park, we saw a grizzly bear, along with many other spectacular sites. Inspired by the internet, I had wanted to go to the Grand Tetons. Reuben had researched several hikes and allowed me to choose which hike appealed to me most. Of course I chose the most difficult hike -- Amphitheater Lake. And boy was it worth it! Not just for the views, but the surprise at the end. When we finally made it to the top, Jaime, knowing that I have an enthusiasm for wildlife, told me that Reuben had found a mountain goat at the top of a mountain. I followed in excitement, and was confused and disappointed when I couldn't find the goat. That's when I turned around and saw Reuben kneeling down on one knee. And Jaime, being the trooper he was, was able to capture the event on camera.
