Nikki and Michelle's love story began way back in 2015. Both had just moved to Seattle after college, and shortly after joined Jconnect, a meetup group for young Jewish professionals. They first met in passing at a casual Jconnect event at Greenlake, but it was short lived - after a few quick introductions, Nikki began her run, and Michelle (of course) opted to walk. Fast forward to June of 2018. Nikki and Michelle both make their way to a local Seattle karaoke bar, Hula Hula. Although only meeting once 3 years prior, Nikki sees Michelle across the bar to come say hello, and the two proceeded to hang out the rest of the night, forming an instant friendship. In the next few hangouts, Michelle could tell that Nikki was very interested (who wouldn't be), however Michelle just wanted to be friends. To let her down easy, Michelle told Nikki this, specifying that there was a 0% chance anything would ever happen between them. Nikki confidently replied that there was in fact a 100% chance. And although it took some time and convincing, Nikki was right. One small detail - Michelle had already decided and accepted a job in New York City, starting in the coming September. Knowing this, the pair had a wonderful 3 months together in Seattle before parting ways. Their love story was put on pause, and went through some ups and downs, but they eventually realized that they simply were not able to be apart. After 1.5 years in New York, Michelle transferred back to Seattle, and it was as if things picked right up where they left off. The pandemic soon hit, which prompted Nikki to (unofficially and then officially) move into Michelle's house as roommate #4. Eventually Nikki and Michelle decided to buy their perfect starter home in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, where they live today. In January of 2022, after absolutely zero pressure from Michelle, Nikki proposed. Her original plan was to propose in Leavenworth, WA, a beautiful German village a few hours outside of Seattle. She booked a snowmobile tour and had wooden signs made saying "Michelle, I love you, will you marry me?", which were supposed to be put up on the tour, and also booked a cabin for the two to stay in after. Unfortunately, the PNW was hit with a crazy snow storm, closing all highways and removing the possibility to get to Leavenworth. Nikki changed the plan at the last minute, and proposed at the top of their home ski mountain, Crystal Mountain, where their friends carefully placed the signs. Although it wasn't the original plan, it worked out perfectly!
