We're Getting Married!

Welcome to our wedding page! We are so excited to share our day with our closest friends and family.

How We Met

12.12.2015

We both met through our mutual friend Julie when we all planned to go as a group to the TBOX bar crawl in Wrigleyville in Chicago. Jon was dressed as Santa Claus, and Michelle was dressed in a Christmas onesie with a Lucky Charms cereal box as a purse! The same day, Michelle told Jon "I know that we're going to be best friends." The friend group had weekly dinner/movie nights, and we both became really good friends. Then, after several months, Jon, after asking for advice from everyone at work, mustered up the courage to ask Michelle on their first date to trivia, hosted by one of his friends. It was right down the street from his house, but he drove all the way downtown to pick Michelle up from work. He shined his shoes, put on his best watch, his best cologne, washed his car, and picked her up to drive all the way back. It was a big change from his Santa Claus suit. The rest was history!

The Proposal

12.03.2017

Since Jon was born and raised originally in Hawaii, he's told me plenty of stories from back home, and he's always wanted to take me there to show me where he grew up. We'd been planning to go for a while, and he finally decided to schedule our trip for my birthday. A few days before my birthday, we decided to hike the trail of Diamondhead. Jon knows that I've been obsessed with pictures of the view from the top, because you can see all of Waikiki beach, and it's truly beautiful. That day though, Jon was acting weird. He was really quiet walking up the trail. THE "Johnny Tsunami" is never that quiet. So we stopped at one point in the trail, he starts to fumble around. He asks a guy to take our picture over this ledge with a beautiful view in the background, and as he's walking back to me with a smile on his face, the guy shouts out for him. "HAYYYYYYYEEE!!!" The guy can't figure our camera out. So he had to go back to help him. I later find out he thought maybe this was the "moment", but the awkward camera guy messed it up. No worries though, I was oblivious. So THEN.... we hike a little more. Jon finds this another amazing stopping point. This view is awesome. This view isn't of Waikiki beach yet, but of the mountains in the background on one side, and the ocean on the other. Now, no one else is around us. Jon asks if I want some water. He has me sit down to take a break. I stop to take in the view. Before I know it, I see him smiling again in the corner of my eye. He got down on one knee, and I said YES! After that I tried to FaceTime as much family as possible to brag about our engagement location. It really was the BEST. Still bragging now.
