The short story- we matched on a dating app. The long story- Jacob and Michelle met through a mutual friend. Months later, Michelle and Jacob saw each other at a Purim party and Jacob had a dope costume (ask him about it, he's very proud). They struck up a friendly conversation and really hit it off. Michelle gave Jacob her phone number and he never called.... Until they match on Coffee Meets Bagel. Jacob asked for her phone number.... idiot (he wrote that).
Everytime He goes back east, Jacob does a beer swap with his friend Jeff. Over Thanksgiving, Jacob asked Michelle if she wanted to come along and go hiking. Since it was covid, hiking was pretty much the only thing they could do safely without needing masks. To be honest, Michelle wasn't really in the mood to go hiking. Her school situation had been tough and she wasn't feeling up to much of anything, but Jacob realllyyyy wanted her to go, so she did. They went to meet up with Jeff and his girlfriend Leanne and after the boys did their beer swap, they started the hike. Jeff said that he had done the hike with his parents many of times, it was easy and fun. Well- while the fun part was true, the easy part was not. We climbed up a MOUNTAIN. Michelle and Jacob were winded and sweaty, but the view was amazing. As the crew caught their breath, Jacob pulled Michelle close and got down on one knee. He started pulling the ring box out of his pocket and Michelle screamed, "ARE YOU SERIOUS!?" and Jacob said, "If we can survive a pandemic, we can survive anything. I love you so much, will you marry me?" Michelle at this point was crying and shocked. Through her tears, she said "yes." Leanne and Jeff caught the whole thing on video and Jeff pulled champagne and cups out of his backpack and they spent the day on the mountain drinking champagne.
