On a cold night in early 2018, Nicole and Michael were each invited to a happy hour event hosted by the JCC (Jewish Community Center). They both reluctantly agreed to go. Upon arrival, they were given a crayon and encouraged to seek out and meet others with the same color crayon. After about an hour of awkward conversations and standing around, Nicole's group struck up a conversation with the group Michael was with. Eventually, Michael and Nicole were drawn to each other and broke off to chat longer. When it came time to leave, Michael asked Nicole for her number and they went on their first date a week later where they ordered way too much hummus. Five years went by and their love continued to grow. They shared each other's interests, traveled to Europe and all over the country, and moved in together at the beginning of a global pandemic. Most importantly, they adopted their sweet dog, Ollie, adding even more love and a touch of chaos into their lives. In February 2023, on a day that was even colder than the night they met, Michael proposed in Central Park, in the exact spot where they shared their first kiss. And no, they did not have the same color crayon all those years ago.
