"The Michaels" each moved to the Portland/Vancouver area within a few months of one another - Michael S. from southern California and Michael G. from northern Washington. After a few years, MS found himself single and casually perusing the dating apps when a tall, dark, and handsome MG caught his eye. As luck had it, they both "swiped right" and the connection was made. One of the first conversations they had was about if it would be weird to date since they are both named "Michael." Let's not put the cart in front of the horse, they thought, and give it a shot. A name is just a name. Maybe one of them would want to go by Mike? (HA.) The first date came and went. There were plenty of jokes about both being named Michael. How would this even work out? Like WHAT IF they made it to marriage, then what? Baby steps. Family and friend introductions were made, and nicknames started to form. The best came from MG's niece Sara - "Big Michael" and "Little Michael" - which are nicknames that still stand today. Through all the fun and games, the two Michaels got closer. In February of 2020, they decided to take it to the next level and try living together. We all know what happened in March of 2020 - the world locked down, and so did the Michaels. They learned how to live together REAL quick when both were immediately sent home for remote work in a 1,200 square-foot apartment only 10 days after moving in together. A few months later they moved into their house with some more breathing room and welcomed a puppy, Roz, into their family. Since then, and while riding the continuous waves of the pandemic, they've remodeled one house and started on the second, began traveling again, started new jobs, and picked up new hobbies along the way. Three years later, and "The Michaels" have decided to make this life a forever one.
