"El Pueblito Paisa" is an amazing place located at "el Cerro Nutibara" in Medellin, Antioquia which does not cost anything, it is an attractive viewpoint and a replica of a Paisa town, there are handicrafts and food if you want to buy. The climate is temperate and humid, with an average temperature of 21.6°C. In my experience it is a very nice place where you can try Colombian cuisine and the dances and views of Medellin Colombia
Comuna 13 is a hillside neighborhood of Medellín that until the early 00's was one of the most violent areas of the city. Today, the neighborhood is a living story of rebirth and famous for its street art installations. Although much safer today, it is still recommended to visit with a local guide or with a tour group.
A true pride of the paisa, Medellin’s cable metro allows you to reach the heights of the city (like a cable car) and enjoy an incomparable panoramic view. It’s also a great way to enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire valley. You will see the city stretching out over the surrounding hills and see the “hottest” areas, such as the slums. Inaugurated in 2004. Medellin was the first city in the world to introduce cable cars as public transport. Thousands of families living in the Medellin heights were able to reach their homes much faster thanks to the metrocable.
If the Metro Cable ride wasn't enough, you can continue all the way to Parque Arvi station, drop off and enjoy nature just 10 minutes away from the city. The botanical garden has more than 1,000 living species and 4,500 flowers. It has an important collection of orchids preserved in an architectural space called the "Orchidiarium". The park entrance is for free but you will need to pay for the extra cable car to get right to the top. Everything in Parque Arvi is green, fresh and natural! You can try delicious food and artisanal wine at the farmer's market, take long walks through some of the nature trails, join a tour group, or swim in the river. All of a sudden you are out of the heat of Medellin and into the cool forest air. You can also stay in Parque Arvi Hotel but expect to pay around $50 per person. Personally, we believe that a day trip is enough to really get a feeling for this amazing destination before heading back to the busy city.
The safest and most obvious choice for nightlife and gastronomy in Medellin is the area surrounding Parque Lleras. Block after block is packed with bars, clubs and restaurants and the streets and park itself are filled with partiers Thursday – Saturday.
Real City Walking tours are ranked the #1 tour on Trip Advisor for Medellín. They operate under the now very popular model that they are free. You can make the decision to make payment after you have done the tour. All Real City Walking tour guides are born and raised in Medellín. And they can best be described as story tellers rather than guides.Real City Walking Tour’s free tour of the downtown area of Medellìn is a must do for every traveler. We recommend doing it on your first day in the city as their expansive four hour tour provides you with a scope on the area, it’s history and the Paisa culture.
El Tesoro mall is one of the best shopping malls in Medellín. It’s a very modern mall with some great scenic views of the city. Furthermore, El Tesoro has a Cinemark movie theater, many trendy clothing stores and even some rides for children such as a Ferris wheel and a train. You’ll find well over 200 shops in this mall. El Tesoro mall is located in El Pobaldo. And it is located high up the eastern hills of Medellín. The views offer a stunning panorama of the city. The mall is known as Parque Comercial El Tesoro instead of Centro Comerical El Tesoro like many other malls in Medellín that use “Centro Comercial” in the name. This is likely due to it having a park with some rides for kids. This is a very nice mall that is convenient, as it has a Carrulla for groceries, a Cinemark for movies, a medical tower and many of the typical shops you’ll find in other malls in Colombia. In addition, it has a couple of food courts with many fast food options plus several restaurants.
Andrés Carne de Res in Medellín has a huge 52-page menu of food and drinks. It’s a restaurant that is also a night club with dance floors. The grill section of the menu is 6 pages long. Ocio is another fusion restaurant with a heavier Colombian influence. An amazing place to go for brunch or a casual dinner, the ceviche is absolutely mouthwatering. The restaurant is known for its excellent meats, like the pernil, a slow roast pork, and short ribs, cooked for twelve hours. Based on the concept of meal sharing, the restaurant allows its clients to try different preparations, its plates, served at the center of the table, are elaborated with excellent quality products: freshly caught fish from the Pacific Ocean; spices from Colombia and Asia; herbs, flowers and organic ingredients, etc.
Do you like seafood? If you do then this is a must visit! Fine decor and wonderfully decorated tables will make you feel like you could be in a high-class restaurant in any city around the world. The food is absolutely top-notch and the menu covers local favorites as well as international dishes. Book ahead to avoid disappointment.
In 2006, the first branch of El Cielo Medellin was opened, more specifically in El Poblado, very close to the well-known Parque Lleras. The restaurant has become an icon of the city and today is loved by locals and foreigners. The Medellin Bureau named it a must-visit destination for tourists and has received for several years the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor for its gastronomic offer, the multi-sensory experiences that surprise the diner, and its service. Its fired brick walls are the perfect setting for visitors to taste the unique and modern Colombian food experience that only El Cielo can offer. Reservations are required and can only be made by telephone. They also have a location in Miami.
