This isn't your regular fishing...it's like cool fishing. So cool that Abby even had a blast doing this on a past trip (and she hates fishing). Get a large group together and reserve the whole boat or join up with some Key West strangers (who we are sure will quickly turn to friends). This activity is both fun and affordable.
Get up close and personal with Key West ocean life by renting paddle boards or kayaks for the day. We did this on our last trip down to Key West, and will definitely be making it a go-to when we visit. Pro tip: we rented paddle boards, which was fun....but (for Abby) a little exhausting after a while. So if you want an R&R vibe go for the kayaks. If you are up for adventure paddle boards are your ticket!
Looking for a laid back up close and personal view of the famous Key West sunset? Check out this sunset cruise complete with beer, wine and champagne. Feel free to bring your own snacks and make sure to tip the crew. This activity is best enjoyed with a group of people, unless you really like to make new friends (which you most definitely will). This company also offers a lot of other water adventures so make sure to check them all out! To book just call the number directly or looks for one of the many 'Fury' stands in the harbor.
Why go bar hopping when you can hop on a bar? Their slogan says it all. Hop on a floating tiki bar and take in the beautiful blue Key West Waters. We haven't actually done this yet, but believe us it is on our bucket list to try. Still unsure of what to expect hop on over to their website and check it out. Calling or booking online is preferred.
The perfect activity for both the history and literature buff, and the cat lover. See where Hemmingway holed up while in Kew West and pet the group of cats that now call this house their home.
Do you like nature? wildlife? butterflies? flowers? If you answered yes to any of these then you will want to put the Butterfly garden on your 'to-see' list. This would also be a great activity for people of all ages. So if you are bringing the kids along make sure to check it out.
Although, Key West isn't known for their beaches if you are looking to put your toes in the sand and take in the ocean view you can do at Smathers Beach. There all kinds of fishing options available in Key West from deep sea to party style. Michael recently enjoyed some flats fishing with his guide Justin. He has such a fun time we wanted to make sure we passed along his info. This is perfect for anywhere from 1-4 people who are bit more serious about their fishing.
We are all about a good brunch to start our day off right in Key West. Bagatelle is hands down our favorite place to do that. Pro tip: sit outside on the porch so you can people watch.
Some of the best coffee I've ever had! Believe me, the rest of the island agrees with me. Pro Tip: Beet the long line that forms daily by getting there early (they open at 6:30am) or come a bit later once the morning rush has passed (around 11am). Also, grab your picture in front of the famous 'Welcome to Key West' mural.
Raise your hand if you like a good bloody mary! Raise both hands if you LOVE a GREAT blood mary BAR! Great, now that both of you hands are raised go check out the self serve blood mary bar at the Blue McCaw. The food is great too.
If you thought Abby was going to bypass this opportunity to recommend a health food store...think again. The Key West lifestyle can take it's toll so if you find yourself itching for some good for you grub this is the place to go. You can pick up healthy snacks, probiotics and more. They have a restaurant attached that serves up amazing smoothies and whole foods lunches. Pro tip: order your smoothie online and it will be ready for pick up by the time you get there.
Did you know President Truman had a home in Key West? Check out this cozy little home with expansive grounds that the former President frequented often.
We like to consider Schooner our home away from home when in Key West. Stop by for lunch and order the shrimp and oyster app and one of their fresh seafood salads. This is also the perfect place to linger a little bit longer while sipping drinks and listening to live music.
Please don't leave Key West without stopping by Garbos Grill for some tacos with Key West flare. We love this place so much we have been known to go there twice in one day. This food truck is cozied up next to Grunts bar so kick bar with a korean taco and cold glass of beer.
If you are looking for a unique dining experience look no further. Enjoy a ferry ride over to Sunset Key located just off the coast of KW. This is the perfect spot for a romantic date night or quiet dinner with friends and family. Pro tip: They require a reservation so make sure to book ahead! And if they offer the stone crab claws as a special do not pass it up!
This little find offers a meal worthy of sharing. Whether just for two or a whole crew share a round of tapas and some great wine. Reservation strongly encouraged.

If you truly want to feel like a local you have to mosey over to The Green Parrot. A hub for live music and home to a good crowd. Full disclosure be ready to run shoulders becasue this place packs up quick.
Sloppy Joe's always has a band rockin' and good time goin'. We highly recommend you end your night here at least once. Fun note, we saw the band playing at our wedding at Sloppy Joe's. We were dancing and both said if we ever get married this band will play our wedding. Pro tip: If you walk by and there isn't a huge crowd make sure to grab a table and wait for the fun to pile in.
Almost 70 miles (113 km) west of Key West lies the remote Dry Tortugas National Park. This 100-square mile park is mostly open water with seven small islands. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, the park is known the world over as the home of magnificent Fort Jefferson, picturesque blue waters, superlative coral reefs and marine life, and the vast assortment of bird life that frequents the area.
