In 2016 Michael was the confirmation sponsor to Violets brother Chris. The two did not officially meet until they both joined a young adult group through St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish. Violet and Michael were in the same small group every time Michael was able to attend. It wasn’t until a bowling event did they truly connect. Only the two of them showed up to the event due to Violet losing her keys and the others canceling. This happened to be the same day that Violet received her learners permit for motorcycle riding. Little did she know that Michael had been an avid rider for several years. He took her on several small trips as a passenger on his bike and when she picked up hers he officially asked her out on a date….

Michael knew that he wanted Christ to be the center of their relationship so the proposal had to include Him. He picked her up and they went to the Bowling alley that they first connected and bowled a few games. From there they had lunch at the spot he officially asked her out and went to the beach where they shared their first kiss. The next stop was where they both said I love you for the first time at the park near her house. After driving in circles for a little to get Violet lost he came out a block near the church. They parked and it seemed no one else was there. As they entered the church and into the adoration chapel which was decorated with candles and rose pedals. They kneeled before our lord and prayed together. Michael then said a prayer he wrote thanking the lord for Violet ending with the words “violet rose Cunningham. Will you grow closer in Christ with me and marry me?” Her family was waiting as they left the church with roses for her.
