There was about ten different reasons why I normally would not have walked into Lola's that brutally rainy day. I was exhausted from a day of applying to jobs, and the tropical rainstorm flooding Harrison St. in Hollywood were enough to keep me from going to the job interview. The restaurant had not even opened yet, and it was located in an area not well known for successful restaurants to boot. When I pulled into the parking spot, I thought to myself that I should just head home. I happened to look up through the torrential rain beating on the car window to see The Goddess Store- a place I had been meaning to come to for over a year. I considered it a sign, so I grabbed an umbrella and waded my way through the storm. When I walked into a purple restaurant, owned by a NY Jets fan- I immediately knew I should take the job. We started out as best friends building a dream together. We supported each other through difficult personal transitions while having a ton of fun in the process. When we finally realized our relationship had turned to something more than friends I was concerned. I was scared that we would compromise our amazing partnership- but Mike suggested we give it a go. He said, "its either going to work really well- or not. If it doesn't, then we will cross that bridge when it gets here." Ten years later- that partnership has been the foundation that has supported all the crazy and challenging obstacles life has thrown at us. We are honored to have all of you gather with us to celebrate this partnership, and the love we share.
