Kennedy and I have known each other since middle school. She moved to Kerrville when she was in eighth grade and I was in seventh. I don’t think we ever actually spoke a word to each other, but I always thought she was so cute… I knew if I ever got the chance, I would be a nervous wreck. In high school it was the same story. We were friendly to each other but never really friends. She was so athletic and way too cool for me. A boy can dream... College is when we actually started to become friends. Funny enough, it was back in Kerrville during COVID and into summer break that we first hung out again. She’d have my friends and I over for little get togethers. It was always a good time. That lasted two summers and poured over into the next school year, her senior year at A&M. I remember getting closer to her by the day and we ended up spending pretty much all of our time together. I didn’t think she was into me at all, so I was afraid to pursue anything more than friends. I remember the weekend when everything changed. We carpooled back from College Station to Kerrville for the weekend. I had never spent this much time alone with her. We spent the entire car ride talking, joking, and laughing. Almost 7 hours total, there and back, and we were really hitting it off! That was when I had the realization of how much we had in common - our humor, our values and especially our faith. There was no more denying I was falling for her. I knew I wanted to be more than friends. We went to the Houston Zoo, a Texas A&M football game, and spent more time together than ever. I finally wised up and asked her out just before new years of 2022. We went ahead and called it new years to make our anniversary easy for me. Ever since our first date, I knew that she was the one. She has brought me closer to the Lord and helps me in countless ways. Throughout our relationship we have continued to grow together and road trips are still our favorite thing to do together. Our most recent trek was by far the most special and memorable... I asked Kennedy to marry me in Destin, Florida on August third. I am eternally grateful for her. I thank God for giving her to me so that I can spend the rest of my life with my best friend!
