Summer and Matt met in New York through their friends Mary Alice and Turner. Summer had just finished her first board exam for medical school and had a trip planned to Cabo to celebrate her accomplishment. A few days before the trip, she realized that her passport was expired and because of the recent pandemic, was unable to renew her passport in time. She had to cancel her trip to Cabo, and instead, spontaneously booked a trip to New York to reconnect with her college friends. Unbeknownst to Summer, this change in course would lead to a delightful twist of fate. A casual dinner gathering with some of her friends in the city introduced her to Matt, who was living in New York at the time. Their connection sparked instantaneously, and as the stars aligned, they learned that Matt was set to relocate just an hour away from Summer in a matter of months. Serendipitously, he had accepted a job in San Francisco, conveniently close to Summer who was living in Sacramento for medical school at UC Davis. Talk about fate! Their connection deepened over time, and a month later, Matt took a leap of faith and flew Summer out to meet his family and asked her to be his girlfriend. And so, the adventure of Summer and Matt began, proving that destiny has a way of weaving love stories that defy all odds.

Matt organized a spontaneous trip to Las Vegas for him and Summer to catch a UFC fight. Unbeknownst to Summer, this served as the backdrop for a surprise proposal. Dropping hints about a special plan on the day of the fight, Matt kept her in suspense. On the day itself, Matt unveiled his surprise: a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon. Touching down in the stunning landscape, they enjoyed a moment with a bottle of champagne. Seizing the opportunity, Matt suggested a detour off the usual path for a photo. Casually setting up his phone on a rock for a "timed photo," Matt returned to Summer, only to catch her off guard by dropping to one knee and popping the question! With overwhelming joy, Summer said the easiest "yes," marking the beginning of their journey together.
