The Red Fox Inn & Tavern
Dine inside a tavern that dates back to 1728. If there’s one place you can’t leave Middleburg without experiencing, it’s The Red Fox Inn & Tavern. The Virginia landmark—which houses both a restaurant and a boutique inn—is overflowing with character and history. John F. Kennedy held press conferences, Jackie Kennedy, Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor were also regulars. Standout menu items: the Maryland crab cakes, Duck and fried chicken (yes fried chicken). Be sure to make reservations in advance—they are almost always booked solid.
King Street Oyster Bar
If you want to dine like a local look no further than King Street Oyster Bar. Their fantastic daily happy hour runs from 3-6:30pm EVERY day of the week: 1/2 price oysters and $5 drinks (cocktails, beer and wine). Highly recommend the Oyster Po' boy and sliders.
Mt. Defiance Cider Barn
This local-watering hole has taken Middleburg by storm. With two locations on the main street, Mount Defiance has grown it's distillery to include homemade absinthe, cider and other spirits. Whether visiting their original location in downtown Middleburg, or a few minutes up the road to their impressive Barn and event space...Mount Defiance doesn't disappoint.
Market Salamander
Located in downtown Middleburg (10 minutes from its namesake resort), Market Salamander offers fresh to-go dining options. With indoor seating and ample takeout options, this market & café offers a relaxed atmosphere with a varied menu of American & Mediterranean fare.
Hunter's Head Tavern
Just down the road from downtown Middleburg lies Hunter's Head Tavern. This farm-owned Gastropub serving traditional, local, organic food and heritage breed meats is an Upperville, Virginia.
Greenhill Winery & Vineyards
The 128-acre property features Little River which runs along the south-east property line, a natural pond, and the Club House, a historical building circa 1762. If the charm of the place doesn't win you over at first visit, the 100% Virginia wines and Charolais beef and honey from their apiaries will.
Boxwood Estate Winery
Boxwood Estate Winery is based off the owner (proprietor John Kent Cooke, former owner and president of the NFL Washington Football Team)'s love for French wines, particularly great Bordeaux. The Boxwood sustainable vineyards occupy 26.5 acres of the historic landmark farm, and are planted with traditional Bordeaux varietals, predominately Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc & Sauvignon Blanc, all ENTAV certified.
