How We Met

Winter 2016

We originally met through our sisters, Melissa and Hannah - thanks, guys! We had been to a few parties and A-Basin beach days together, but hadn't interacted much. It wasn't until a smaller get together at Melissa's house that we really got to talking and hit it off. After that weekend, we began going on real dates and spending more time together. About a month into it, we found ourselves planning a spontaneous trip to Moab to go skydiving together. Once we drove five hours to Utah and jumped out of a plane together on our fifth date, we knew we had something special... And the rest is history!

The Proposal

May 30th, 2021

In 2018, we took our first trip to Hawaii and spent two weeks exploring the small island of Kauai. We had an absolute blast, but unfortunately the trip ended with a nasty surfboard accident that left Meredith with 25 stiches in her leg and an 18 month recovery. We loved Kauai and always knew we'd need to go back to write over the memories from that last day. In May of 2021, we returned to our favorite Hawaiian island to do just that. Hanalei Bay, a great beach on the north end of the island, has held such a special place in both our hearts from the moment we saw it. So naturally, we were both eager to return. After our first day back on Kauai, we attempted to go down to Hanalei Bay for sunset cocktails and a proposal (that was a secret), only to find that the lone road to get to the beach was closed for 5 hours because of a motorcycle accident. Sid tried to quickly and casually pivot and go to another beach for sunset, but it just didn't feel right... There was a wedding going on at that beach, along with a pale man poorly attempting to surf about 5 feet away from our picnic spot in a skimpy speedo. Needless to say, Sid decided this was not the night or place to propose. Fast forward to the next night, we made it down to Hanalei Bay for cocktails and sunset. The weather called for a 60% chance of rain but it held off and ended up being a gorgeous sunset. When the lighting was perfect, Sid asked to take a few photos (which never happens) and then turned to me, pulled a ring out of a sunglasses cleaning rag, and bent down on one knee. It was the most perfect moment I could have ever dreamed of in my favorite place in the world.
