The ceremony and reception will be adults-only (with the exception of our three kids, who will be owning the dance floor way past their bedtimes). Because we know that so many of our friends and family will be coming into town with babies and little ones, we are going to be trying to compile a list of babysitters who would be willing to come to individual family’s hotel rooms to babysit for the night. If that’s something that would be helpful for you, reach out to Jake or Melody.
Black tie optional! We’re excited to bring in the new year in style!
Yes! With our three kids in mind, we decided to get officially married last year on New Year’s Eve, with the plan that we’d take a year to plan a big celebration. We can’t wait to formally commit to each other in front of all of our loved ones, though! That’s why, this year, we’ll have our full wedding ceremony again as a renewal of vows, on what will technically be our first anniversary.
Jake and Melody love that they come from different backgrounds that they get to weave together, and the ceremony will very much be a reflection of that. While not strictly Jewish or Lutheran, we designed every piece of the ceremony to be a reflection of what feels the most special and authentic to us, as individuals and as a couple. We are also thrilled to welcome our childhood best friends to co-officiate the ceremony, Matt Wilson and Ayla Lefkowitz. We could think of nothing more special and holy to us than having them perform our ceremony.
Yes! The events will take place back to back, all at the Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook.
You better believe it! Get ready to dance the night away with us! There’s no one we’d rather bring in 2025 with.
Oak Brook is a large Chicago suburb, close to where Jake grew up. It’s definitely doable to go into the city of Chicago if that’s something you’re hoping to do! We recommend renting a car or getting an Uber for the most simple commute.
