There will be plenty of parking at Blueberry Hill Park right next to the venue. If you do not find a spot in the immediate lot, there will be parking very close by the playground and ball fields.
Yes!
Yes! We will have a Pittsburgh Cookie Table. In addition to cake, it is common for people in Pittsburgh to have a separate table of cookies and treats (sometimes with to go bags!) for guests to enjoy. The cookies are typically made or donated by friends and family of the bride and groom. If you'd like to contribute something to our Pittsburgh Table, please let us know. The more the merrier!
A high tea is a British tradition of a meal and tea served in the afternoon or early evening. It is similar to a light dinner and includes a mix of sweet and savory foods, like finger sandwiches, mini salads, sliders, scones and other pastries. The bride and groom will be hand selecting the items for this high tea and anyone who has specific allergies can flag them ahead of time so that accommodations can be made.
Treat this like you would any other wedding for the most part. We expect that most of our guests will be wearing formal or semi-formal attire. Because this is a high tea, some guests may want to wear sundresses or fun high tea hats. We encourage everyone to enjoy the high tea the way they like!
We have opted not to have dancing after the high tea. This is an intimate social gathering with a high tea and an opportunity for people to converse. The bride and groom would also like to spend time talking to each of you as much as we can! There will, however, be light orchestra-like music playing in the background while we have the high tea. The bride will also be walking down the aisle to a special song.
Beyond the ceremony and a couple of speeches/toasts, the high tea will be the main activity. However, guests are allowed to stay as long as they like up until 5:30pm and there are pool tables and other games that we are given access to as part of the venue. (After 5:30 it's closing time...you don't have to go home but you can't stay there...unless it's outside in the park area!)
Yes. Because we need to plan for a high tea, we will have assigned tables set up for our guests.
Yes. We will be doing a champaign toast, but will also have sparkling cider on hand for anyone who doesn't drink. We will also have a variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages available for those who cannot have or do not like tea at an open bar table.
