We met at the airport headed to Las Vegas for my brother's dirty 30. We did not talk much on that trip but began hanging around one another after! Apparently, my brother & sister in law had been plotting to get us together for awhile. We went on a few dates and after that were pretty much inseparable after our third date! After 3 months of dating, Lewis had accepted an engineering position in Tampa Florida. He asked me to move down with him when he got settled. 2 months later I moved to Florida and never looked back!
I planned on proposing to Melissa in October on the West Coast. But as soon as I saw the ring, I knew there was no way I could keep it to myself for more than a few days! The next day I flew out to Manhattan where Melissa was for a work trip. I knew New York City was the place to pop the question. The next day, I took her to Gapstow Bridge in Central Park before our brunch reservations at Laduree. It was a cool late summer's morning, and felt like fall was starting to comb over NYC. I told her I wanted to show her the city between the trees on this bridge I found. Once we got to the bridge, there was no one around. The perfect private moment. I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. In a New York minute, she said yes. We spent the entire rest of the day doing all the things she loves: Champagne toasts, brunch at Laduree, eating macarons and shopping in Soho. We ended our day by taking a night carriage ride through Central Park. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
