Melissa is a midwest girl born in the motor city of Detroit, MI. After graduating from Michigan State University in 2009 she moved to Chicago, IL and resided there for eleven years to start her career as an electrical engineer. After battling brutal winters all her life she decided to take her talents down south for better weather. Melissa made the leap of faith and moved to Charlotte in March 2020. She spent the following months trying to navigate a new city during lock down. Her new group of friends (s/o Quaranteam) and newly purchased home kept her busy. Frank is a southern man born and raised in Raleigh, NC. Frank attended Winston-Salem State University on a football scholarship. After graduating in 2005 with a B.A. in Sport Management and a minor in Business Management he moved back home to Raleigh to start his career in Procurement. After several years working in Raleigh he decided to take a job opportunity in Charlotte. Frank has lived in Charlotte since 2014. It just so happened that most of his childhood friends also moved to Charlotte which made the deal even sweeter. Melissa's Story: Melissa gave herself six months to rebuild a "new life" in Charlotte before exploring the idea of dating again. After much prayer and revelation, she was led to create a profile on Hinge (dating app) in September 2020. Within three days of activating her account, Frank and Melissa's profiles matched! Three days was enough time for Melissa to explore the dating app because it gave her too much anxiety lol. She advised Frank, if he was interested to contact her via Instagram as she was deleting her Hinge account. After a couple DM exchanges, she felt comfortable giving Frank her number. He quickly texted her with a funny meme of the the guy skating by shirtless saying "Hey girl" LOL. At that very moment, she found out he was unfortunately an Android user SMH. Was this a red flag?!?! Their first date was at Whiskey Warehouse on September 20, 2020. He had been out watching football with friends and Melissa just finished a community event with NSBE. They ordered drinks and food while watching the NBA finals. They quickly bonded over sports and good banter. Little did he know, she had her good friend do a quick "walk-by" to make sure she was good and he wasn't crazy. Her friend got the thumbs up and the rest of the date went well! Frank scheduled the next couple dates and each interaction was effortless. Melissa admired how respectful Frank was and how easy it was to get along. The next two years, they will continue to strengthen their bond and create everlasting memories all over the place. Oh, more importantly he is now a faithful Apple user :) Frank's Story: After being on and off the dating scene for several years, Frank decided to give it another try and get on a dating app. Melissa’s profile caught Frank’s eye because she was a fresh face to the city and they had similar hobbies. After exchanging a few messages, Melissa told Frank she was getting off the app after being on for only 27 hrs lol. Melissa insisted for Frank to message her on IG. Frank thought to himself, “who tells someone to hit them up on IG instead of giving out their number…..weird”. Frank decided to step out of the box and obliged to the odd request. After exchanging numbers FINALLY, Frank asked Melissa on a date. Since the Panther’s had an away game Frank thought it was the opportune time to invite Melissa to one of his favorite rooftop bars AFTER THE GAME. One memorable moment from the date was when Melissa confessed she didn’t know how to eat chicken wings. What black person doesn’t know how to eat chicken wings?! Then he remembered she was from the north lol. Frank knew Melissa was the one when he took her to watch the Michigan vs. Michigan State football game. Melissa was yelling at the TVs and running around the bar, at that very moment this is when Frank knew he met his match. Not to mention, Melissa is now a pro at eating chicken wings :)
