We regularly find ourselves saying, “how did we find each other?!” The truth is we found each other the way many couples find love and companionship these days; on a dating app. In the late summer of 2021, we both found ourselves single after long marriages and were dating for the first time in many years. Neither of us were necessarily looking for love but were more looking to just “get back in the game”. Our first date came in early August at what would become our favorite date spot – David’s Grill in Wingfield Springs. The first date could not have gone better! Although we were meeting for the first time, we quickly discovered that we had a lot in common and that our paths had crossed many times throughout our lives. We both spent much of our childhoods in Sparks, Nevada where we attended the same middle school and graduated from rival High Schools. Melissa’s close childhood friend played football with Brian in high school. After our first date, Melissa found that she had been carrying around a picture of Brian and his football team for over 20 years. Needless to say, it didn’t take long for us to fall in love. We have both had ups and downs in our lives over the last two years, but through it all we’ve had each other and our incredible love we share. We’ve had some amazing adventures and we travel together often. By far, our favorite activity is going to see live comedy together, followed closely by attending Major League Baseball games. Our couple goal is to go see every MLB team play at their home stadium. Aside from baseball and comedy, a few of our favorite memories from our adventures together are taking a catamaran to see the Napali Coast in Kauai, venturing to the top of the Space Needle in Seattle, and walking the Chicago River on a beautiful July night. Although we knew we wanted to spend our life together from nearly the beginning, it wasn’t until the Spring of 2023 that Brian proposed. On a beautiful Northern Nevada day, he planned what she thought would be a family hike in the Mount Rose foothills. As the family made their way up the trail, Brian pulled out the ring, took Melissa’s hand and dropped down to a knee. Melissa was completely surprised but quickly said yes. We then decided to get married in a city that we both have grown to love – Boise, Idaho. We're so excited for you to join us as we say “I do”!
