Douglas and Melessa were in the same section in Stetson University College of Law. They had the same teachers and the exact same classes. When asking advice about law school to current students, a popular saying kept arising: "Don't date anyone in your section." So when Douglas approached Melessa at the Barbri table asking for tips and tricks on bar prep and outlines she thought nothing of it. Once Melessa figured out that Douglas was interested in more than just Barbri outlines, she sternly halted his advances citing the previous advice from upperclassmen. Undeterred, Douglas convinced Melessa to keep talking to him regardless of her trepidations. His loving attitude and warmth persuaded Melessa to give the relationship an honest chance and she has never regretted it. Nine years of laughter, joy, and memories later both Melessa and Douglas are sure that they want to spend the rest of their lives together.

Douglas took Melessa to this amazing Park on Davis Islands in Tampa, FL and had a wonderful picnic set up with charcuterie and wine. It was one of the best days of her entire life! A professional photographer was able to capture their special moments. The weather was perfect the sunset was beautiful and there were shockingly no bugs to deal with!

Melessa was born in Georgetown, Guyana and immigrated to America when she was three years old. Growing up, she knew that school was her most important mission and to excel was her main goal. She received a seven year scholarship to Tampa Preparatory School when she was ten years old and attended the school from grades six through twelve. She then attended the Florida State University and graduated in 2013. During her years at FSU she knew she wanted to be a lawyer and worked tirelessly to achieve her goal. She was accepted to Stetson University College of Law in 2013 and attended the university for three years, graduating in 2016. She met Douglas at Stetson in 2013. She took the bar exam in 2017 and passed, she was sworn in as an Attorney, April 2017. Since then, she spends her days working and spending time with Douglas, her cats, friends, and family.

Douglas was born in Orlando, FL and grew up in Lake Mary, FL. He has three sisters, Emily, Amy, and Lindsay. He attended Seminole High school and graduated in 2009. He was accepted into the Florida State University and spent four years there making memories and studying diligently. Because of his excellent studies, he was able to attend Stetson University College of law where he met Melessa. He graduated from Stetson in 2016. After passing the bar he has worked with Holland & Knight as an Attorney for over four years. He enjoys his free time playing video games, hanging with Melessa, friends, and family.
