Ryan had just moved from Detroit to Chicago for work, and I mean literally. Boxes still unpacked in his apartment downtown. He came across me on social media through mutual friends and decided to reach out. We talked a little here and there and I could already tell he was sweet and genuine, although I wasn't totally sure I was interested. He eventually invited me over for a pool day and lunch at his apartment complex, and something about the way he asked made me really want to say yes. (Maybe it was the pool). I went and met Ryan the week he moved to Chicago, and he confessed that from the moment we met he felt like his search was over. Just three weeks later, he asked me to be his girlfriend. I was like "what took you so long?"
Meg and I were vacationing in Mexico at our favorite resort. I set up a photographer through the resort to "randomly" select us for a photoshoot for a marketing campaign where they needed a "beautiful couple" for sunset pictures. So of course Meghan didn't even think twice about us being selected. They caught us right before dinner when we were having some drinks at the beach bar. After about 5 minutes of taking pictures, Camera Person #2 pretended to do some touch-ups to Meghan's hair. As she turned back around, I was down on one knee. Neither of us can even remember what was said in that moment, even after rehearsing non-stop in my head for weeks prior. All I knew was she said yes. It was the perfect spot for such a special moment, making it a memory we will always cherish.
