Flight

Martha's Vineyard Airport (MVY)

Flying in and out of MVY is very convenient, as the airport is in the middle of the island and a quick taxi ride to Edgartown & Oak Bluffs. Flights are much more limited and expensive than Logan airport in Boston (BOS). Flights are available to book now (direct flights from NYC, DC, Boston).

Boston Logan Airport (BOS)

Logan International Airport is the primary airport in Boston. From BOS you will need to get to the island either a) on a connecting flight to MVY airport, b) with a rental car, or c) via the Peter Pan bus. Options b and c require that you take a Steamship Authority ferry from Woods Hole to the Vineyard.

STEAMSHIP AUTHORITY FERRY (ALLOWS CARS)

Ferry Location: Woods Hole, MA Traveling to Ferry: Peter Pan Bus or Car Reservations: Open on January 24 Tickets: A car is NOT necessary on the Island, however, this the only ferry that allows cars. If you are planning to bring your car, we recommend booking the day reservations open on January 24, since they book up very quickly (~$100 each way). Walk-On Ferry Option: If you plan to walk on, you do not need to purchase tickets in advance (~$8 each way). Give yourself some extra time if you're buying tickets day-of, and remember that the last ferry leaves Woods Hole at 9:45pm! The last ferry back off the Island is 9:30pm from Vineyard Haven. Parking Lot: There is a shuttle provided to the ferry (plan ahead and give yourself extra time for this)

Ferry Location: New Bedford, MA Traveling to Ferry: Car, Amtrak to Providence, RI (then 35 min Uber or TBD shuttle service - schedule posted closer to date) Tickets: You need to buy tickets in advance Parking Lot: Shuttle provided to ferry, there is also valet parking

Peter Pan Bus Lines provides daily bus service to Falmouth (Woods Hole) from Boston, Providence and New York. From there, you can take the Steamship Authority Ferry or Uber to the Island Queen Ferry (15 min).
