Megan and Sean met the old fashioned way: at a dive bar! Back in 2018, Megan and Caitlin (her older sister) had spent the day together and ended up driving back to her old Troy apartment. On the way there, they spotted Ethan (now brother-in-law), one of Ethan’s friends (*not Sean*) and another of Ethan’s friends (Sean) heading out for the night. The two eldest Rooney sisters hollered at them from the car and ended up giving them a ride to a bar, joining the crew for an evening of merriment. So in truth, Megan’s very first time meeting Sean began with him in the back seat of her 2015 Honda Civic, as all great love stories begin. That initial encounter ended up being very brief and of little consequence. (Yet they still managed to be captured in a photo that night!). They both went about their separate ways living their own unconnected lives in upstate New York. Fast forward to 2019, “The Year We Moved To Brooklyn”. Sean moved to Brooklyn in February and unbeknownst to him, the gal who would become the love of his life also moved to Brooklyn in March! Summertime arrived and so did Megan and Sean’s official (re)connection, thanks to, you guessed it, Cait and Ethan. The suggestion was to meet up as friends! Ethan maintains it was an innocent idea while Cait has since revealed that she was scheming all along for the two to reunite. Sean and Megan met up at Union Hall in Brooklyn on July 5 and immediately clicked. The “hey, let’s connect to be friends!” idea didn’t last very long and they began dating throughout the remaining months of 2019. Since then they’ve weathered the pandemic, moved in with each other and adopted their sweet cat Clover. They’ve gone on countless walks together throughout Prospect Park, cooked hundreds of meals side by side, lost their voices singing at concerts, watched dozens of movies at Alamo Drafthouse, consumed an abundance of cups of coffee expertly made by Sean, admired all the flora Megan points out during each visit to a botanic garden, tried nearly every gluten free spot in the city, gone on several trips around the Wonder Wheel at Coney Island, traveled near and far, and taken approximately a million photos together. And over the course of their 5+ years as a couple, Megan and Sean have also laughed together, talked about anything and everything, and loved each other every single day. Sean proposed to Megan last year on a beautiful, crisp November day at her favorite place, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Megan was completely surprised by the proposal and also completely sure when she said “yes!”. They’ve had so much fun being engaged these past months and can’t wait to celebrate with their loved ones when they say “I do!”.
