Our Stories

Two Sides to Every Story

Megan's side: The 2022 ski season had just started. Everyone at Anthony knew about some failed attempts at dating and that I was avoiding this guy named Jered. My friends knew him as the newly divorced guy from Anthony. Jered would ask my snowboard instructor boss, Cindy where I was if I happened to be missing. He confidently plopped himself down with my friend Nicole and her new husband after skiing one day. He interrupted a lesson I was teaching to ask where I was the day before. I also told him that he had plenty of time to figure things out after he shared about his divorce to me. Then, it happened. I got ditched by my brother, Nick, in the lift line and still wanted to snowboard. Jered, on queue, slid right into line and offered to let me ride with him and his friend. "Well, let's see what this guy is all about" was what I thought as I agreed. We skied right until last chair and Jered asked if he could buy me a drink in the bar. At that point I didn't notice anything else except for him as we talked. We walked to our cars, exchanged numbers, set a dinner date, and shared our first kiss. Later that week, I had to text Jered to admit (and blame him) that I had Covid and had to cancel our date. He was relentless in offering to do something or bring something to me. So, I finally let him bring me some diet ginger ale. He was very sweet and thoughtful and I'll admit, it was nice to see him. Finally, the next week, we went on our first date. Jered showed up at my house with the most beautiful flowers (Safeway's weren't good enough he said), took me to dinner at Side A, and then on to bowling after. The waitress kept apologizing for the food taking so long, but I didn't notice. A week after our first date, Jered asked me to "go steady". I knew at that point I was in trouble. We've gone steady for a little over a year and are excited to spend the rest of our lives together. Jered's Side: When I met Megan way back when Sydney was learning to snowboard around the age of 6ish, I was kind of confused as to why they would spend so much time throwing snow balls at each other. I thought to myself, “What are we paying for?” Lol! Years of lessons and hanging around at the mountain, I always thought she was a pretty cool gal with lots of drive and personality. Years and years later, I went through a divorce and with 2 kids now, Sydney and Aspen. We spent 2-3 days a week skiing. I started thinking I would love to hang out with Megan. She's pretty fun and cute also and she's always been good with my kids. I started trying to talk or hang around with her and she wasn't having it, always shooting me down, but in a nice way. I was persistent for quite awhile, even inviting myself to sit down with her and one of her good friends and husband. We all talked for a few and then I went to the bathroom and when I came back Megan was like, “Oh you’re back?” in a sarcastic way. That was when I figured out maybe I should stop bugging her. I think a few weeks went by and one day I was skiing with a buddy and here comes Megan in the singles line. Her brother Nick was skiing with her and decided he was done. I waved and said, “You can ride with us” and she looked like, “Great, guess I have to now.” Megan is a very competitive and very skilled on the mountain, so we went down some crazy tree runs and had a great time, her only falling a few times. ;) We made it to last chair and I asked her to have a couple drinks with me and she said yes. I was pretty excited. We talked and visited until closing and I asked her if she would go on a date with me. She said yes!!! The rest is history! Persistence paid off....
