FAQs

Querétaro is a friendly city and is cited as one of the safest cities in Mexico and there is plenty of beautiful plazas and places to walk in the Centro. While the city streets themselves are quite flat, Querétaro is situated at altitude (more than a mile above sea level), so the city has spring-like climate, with cool, dry mountain air throughout most of the year. The semi-desert highlands are favorable for grape-growing and Querétaro is the second biggest wine region (after Baja) - its specialty is sparkling wine! The mountains surrounding Querétaro provide great hiking opportunities, including a trek up one of the biggest rocks in the world- Peña de Bernal!
Question

What weather should I prepare for in Querétaro?

Answer

Querétaro will be dry and warm during the day, but will get chilly at night. Pack for warm weather and make sure to bring a jacket and some long sleeves for the cool evenings! Highs will be 80° / 49° F or 26°/9° C.

Question

Does Uber pick up from the QRO airport?

Answer

Question

Cash or Card?

Answer

México does take credit cards many places, but it is always good to have cash in the local currency (the Mexican peso) especially for places like the local market and smaller shops.

Question

Will I need to worry about mosquitoes?

Answer

No. Mosquitoes thrive in wet, hot climates, and luckily for us, Querétaro is a relatively dry climate especially in March. While you may see a mosquito or two, it should not be a main concern for you in this desert-like region.

Question

Is the water in Querétaro safe to drink?

Answer

While the tap water in QTO is drinkable for locals, to avoid any stomach issues on your trip, we advise that you utilize bottled water for brushing your teeth and avoid ice except ice that is made from bottled water. Tap Safe includes data from many publicly available sources, including the WHO (World Health Organization), CDC (Center for Disease Control), and user submitted databases, but unfortunately there's not enough data about Querétaro: https://www.tapsafe.org/is-queretaro-tap-water-safe-to-drink/

Question

What is the crime like in Querétaro?

Answer

As for crime in Querétaro, Numbeo (the largest numeric database of cities worldwide) gives Querétaro a “low” rating of 39, which is even lower than Charlotte, NC (45)! It is relatively safe to walk around the streets even at night.
