We meet while attending Minnesota State University, Mankato. Dalton was a Community Advisor in McElroy Residents Community where Megan's dorm room was a floor above. They became fast friends and worked together the following school year.

On Megan's 26th birthday, Dalton took her to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Megan loves flowers and Dalton knew it would be the perfect place to propose. On a walk around the garden, they stopped at a waterfall. Dalton pretended to pose for a picture. He told her he had one more present for her. Going down on one knee, he pulled out a Magic card called "wedding ring" and his grandmother's ring and asked her to marry him. She said "YES".
