Hi!! Welcome. For transportation for the ceremony and reception, we suggest you carpool with others staying near you to limit the amount of cars on property, and the amount of people driving. Transportation is tricky in Escalante and taxis aren't really available.

Question

What should I wear/what's the vibe?

Answer

The wedding is in the desert, so prepare for that. The average temperature in Escalante in May for a typical day ranges from a high of 70°F (21°C) to a low of 40°F (5°C). Some would describe it as moderately chilly with a gentle breeze. The wedding look/feel will be boho desert, so feel free to dress accordingly. It's a little bit like mountain casual. Feel free to wear cowboy boots and hats. I will be. Color scheme is sangria, porcelain, sage, mocha, olive, and onyx...kind of like a monarch butterfly mixed with a desert landscape featuring an epic sunset. The ceremony and reception will be outdoors, and it is a dirt/gravel ground, so plan accordingly.

Question

What hotel do you recommend?

Answer

We absolutely recommend Yonder...we were trying to do a buy out of the entire place for our wedding, but it didn't work out. It's a five minute drive from our wedding venue, so it's super convenient. We came here for the first time this past summer and absolutely fell in love with it. There are renovated airstream trailers, small cabins, an RV park and campground...plus the amenities are amazing. It feels like adult summer camp. Stay here. They will be adding a number of premium cabins with ensuite bathrooms soon - so we'd recommend emailing them if you're interested in that option. Question

How do I get to Escalante?

Answer

Escalante is located just off Scenic Highway 12 in southern Utah, 1 hour north of Bryce Canyon National Park and 1.5 hours south of Capitol Reef National Park. Those who complete an Utah National Parks road trip almost certainly drive right through the town on their way from Capitol Reef to Bryce Canyon. The closest major cities with airports are Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, both about 4.5 hours by car. If you’re flying in, you will need to rent a car, or better yet, a camper or RV.

Question

How much time do I need in Escalante?

Answer

How much time you need in Escalante depends on what you plan to do in the area. If you want to explore Grand Staircase, we’d recommend about 3 days. If you plan to use Escalante as a home base for exploring Capitol Reef and Bryce Canyon, you could easily spend a week here.

Question

Getting Around Escalante

Answer

Getting around the town of Escalante itself is very easy. It’s a small town and almost everything is located right in the center of town. Any hotel, restaurant, gas station, etc. is likely no more than a 5 minute drive from the center of town. While some trailheads are located off Highway 12, many of the best hikes in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument are located off Hole in the Rock Road, a 62-mile-long washboard dirt road that deteriorates the further down you go. If you don’t feel comfortable driving on this road, or you have a large RV you’d prefer not to have to find parking for, you can arrange a hiking tour or shuttle to take you most trailheads. https://www.escalantecanyonguides.com https://www.utahcanyonoutdoors.com
