Megan and Bennie met the first weekend of their freshman year of college at the University of Maine. They were friends throughout their freshman year, attending hockey games and going to wing nights with friends. Their friendship transformed in a relationship that following April.

Megan and Bennie's first trip together as couple was to the beautiful island of Aruba. They would return to the "One Happy Island" three more times over the next few years, with it being a favorite destination. During their most recent trip in October 2022, Bennie proposed on the beach right before a beautiful sunset.
