Winter Haven is known for the Chain of Lakes and we highly recommend experiencing it. This is one of many rental companies that offers sunset cruises, boat rentals, or will drive while you ski, wakeboard, or tube.
We have never been, but certainly have enjoyed their fireworks!
If you find yourself in Lakeland, this is our favorite restaurant. Reservations highly recommended. Their website describes it best: "The menu is full of memorable and exquisite items that combine a modern Spanish style accompanied by a Latin American twist including a Southern propensity."
If you're in Lakeland when Born and Bread is open (Wednesday and Saturday mornings), this is pretty much a required stop. Whether you order ahead online or wing it and just show up, plan to wait for at least a few minutes, but it will be well worth it!
A beautiful (and free!) place for a lakeside walk where you are likely to see alligators. This is either a selling point, or a warning:)
A quick drive to Lakeland is worth it to explore this (free!) complete with raised walkways through the trees, lakeside lookouts, a butterfly garden, and much more.

Tranquil gardens with a "singing" tower. There is a gift shop and restaurant on site, but a few food recommendations in Lake Wales are "The Ranch" for soup/ salad/ sandwich based meals, or "Crazy Fish" for... you guessed it... seafood.
